Marvel Legends 2017 Guardians of the Galaxy Figures on Amazon!

UPDATE 1/3/2017: If you’ve been waiting to pick and choose your favorites or to use up some gift cards you got from the holidays, this is your time! All seven Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends 2017 figures are now available individually on Amazon! They’re marked as “Temporarily Out of Stock” because these are pre-orders, but you can go to each figure’s individual page and order them anyway! The popular characters like Angela and Yondu are gonna go fast, so don’t snooze on these!

ORIGINAL: Ordinarily I’m all over new Marvel Legends figures going up for sale like symbiotes on Spider-Man, but, well… last night was New Year’s Eve and I was long since passed out when the pre-orders were finally posted in the late hours overnight. But hey–never fear! There’s still plenty of full cases available for me (and you): the 2017 Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy Wave 1 figures are now up for order! A full set plus an extra Chris Pratt…? Yeah–I can live with that.

I talked about all eight figures in this series at length and gave my full early impressions of them last month, so let’s just straight down to business…

As expected, the case ratios for Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Wave 1 are as follows:

  • (2) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Star-Lord
  • (1) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Drax the Destroyer
  • (1) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Yondu
  • (1) Angela
  • (1) Nova (Sam Alexander)
  • (1) Darkhawk
  • (1) Major Victory Vance Astro
  • Build-A-Figure: Titus

marvel-legends-titus-build-a-figureYes, for those having a hard time remembering–because he’s not exactly the most recognizable or popular Marvel character in the land–the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Build-A-Figure for wave one is Titus, the anthropomorphic cyborg white tiger man with a giant gun for an arm.

The Titus Build-A-Figure is almost certainly going to do less to sell this wave than any Marvel Legends BAF has to date. Luckily, the wave itself is pretty outstanding to begin with.

2017-marvel-legends-star-lord-figure-chris-pratt-packagedI don’t think there was any doubt in anybody’s mind who was going to be double-packed in this case assortment once we saw who was in the seven-figure wave: Star-Lord. Now, the 2014 Marvel Legends Star-Lord figure sort of rotted off the peg being packed at two-per-case, but I think Hasbro is gambling that Chris Pratt’s star has risen a lot in the past three years and the new Marvel Legends 2017 Star-Lord figure will be a hot commodity.

NYCC 2016 Marvel Legends Adam Warlock Figure Revealed

There’s no confirmation yet on new Marvel Legends 2017 Gamora, Rocket Raccoon and Baby Groot 6″ scale figures from the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 movie, but I would be astonished if we don’t see that trio announced–and shown–at the New York Toy Fair 2017 next month for the next wave of GOTG Legends.

I think a Marvel Legends Quasar is probably a pretty safe bet for that series as well, and we know from my NYCC 2016 coverage that Marvel Legends Adam Warlock and a Death’s Head Build-A-Figure are coming as well this year. But fan-demanded Ronan or Nebula figures…? We’ll have to wait and see.

guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-2-marvel-legends-2017-figures-series-1-titusMarvel Legends 2017 Guardians of the Galaxy Wave 1 6″ figures are now available for order, and are scheduled to ship out in Q1 2017 (between January and March, but likely closer to the former). I’ve been ordering my cases lately from EE, as they offer free shipping and almost always get their Marvel Legends figures in first (as they’re a distributor), but your online retailer of choice may vary (and no, EE doesn’t charge your credit card until the figures actually ship).

Just be sure to get your pre-orders in early if you want your figures first–remember, orders are fulfilled in the order they’re received, and Marvel Legends fandom is only growing every year!

Now that the first series of the new year is actually up for order, it’s time to put our money where our mouth: Who’s in for a case or full set of the GOTG Vol. 2 Wave 1 Marvel Legends 6″ figures? What figures are you most looking forward to in this wave? And are you actually excited for the Titus BAF, or will he be going straight up for sale once you build him?

Marvel Legends 2017 Guardians of the Galaxy Figures on Amazon! — 34 Comments

    • That’s what I’m saying. Hopefully if we keep saying that it will be so. Otherwise, I’ll be very disappointed.

  1. Ordered. Thanks for the link! Much cheaper to buy as a retail box rather than fighting crowds or buying from BBTS.

  2. Want all except Starlord and Kid Nova, which is too bad for me cause Titus is must have!

  3. I actually found a Star Lord from that set. He wasn’t even registered but he was on the shelf at Toys R Us. Could these be coming soon to stores? I’ll probably end up going back to TRU and also checking Target,

    • The old Star Lord maybe. This new one is not hanging on a shelf in Toys R Us right now.

      • Ah I had posted a link with it. It was the cartoon Guardians of the Galaxy one on the shelf. On EE it’s listed for March 2017. I was a little curious in which I will be checking the stores this weekend.

  4. Too many repeats. Star Lord (with LESS accessories??), 3rd time Drax has been released, exactly the same, ANOTHER Nova, and a stupid BAF. I like Angela but that leaves 3 blue guys a don’t care much about (at least Nightwing is decent).

    • Star-Lord with a completely different sculpt and a WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better face sculpt.

      .

We have 3 very different Drax figures and only 1 “repeat”.
This is only the second of the “same” Drax to be released – except with blue pants and a better head this time.

      – The 2012 ‘Return Of Marvel Legends’ Drax is a lame figure. Bad head sculpt, boring sculpt, kinda cartoonish, shrimpy(for Drax) body, different knives.
The only thing it has going for it is a pretty good paint job.

      – The 2014 MCU Drax is a custom sculpt based completely on Dave Bautista’s movie Drax.
He’s cool, but I don’t like the red pants, and the head sculpt is okay and kinda boring.

      – The 2015 ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Box Set’ Drax is the best version of Drax ever released.
It’s a mash-up figure that takes movie Drax’s pants, turns them black, turns his armored boot mold silver so that they actually look armored, gives him a much bigger hulking arms and torso from the Hyperion bodymold, gives him a much angrier looking face, gives him the bracers from the SDCC Thunderbolts Luke Cage, alternate armored hands from….Stryfe(?), movie Drax’s knives, AND Warpath’s knives.
      He’s awesome.
They took all the best bits from everywhere and made a Super Drax.

      – The 2017 MCU Drax is a complete recycling of the 2014 Drax, except the blue pants look much better, and the screaming head sculpt looks more accurate to Dave Bautista and is waaaay the hell more interesting.
But yes, other than that it’s a repeat of the 2014 Drax.

      .

The Nova we got in the 2014 Guardians Wave was Nova Prime – Richard Rider, the main, classic Nova.

This new 2017 Nova is “Kid Nova” – Sam Alexander. A completely different character.

      .

Angela is awesome. So is Yondu. They’re the best ones in the wave.

      .

Yea, there are a weird number of blue and green people in space…..
(Drax is green. Grey-green in the MCU’s case.)

      .

      Darkhawk* is okay.

      .

      Yea, that Build-A-Figure is dumb.

  5. Individual figures up for order at Amazon. Just got Nova, Yondu, and Darkhawk

  6. ordered this set… was considering holding off but who am i kidding. IT MUST BE MINE! Vance Astro is the only miss here. great set for the MCU collector in me…. and although not familiar with Titus… he’s going to look so bad a$$ on the shelf.

    • I don’t know, I kinda really enjoy getting new characters. And a wave with ONLY TWO repeat characters? I can definitely live with that. I mean, Angela, Darkhawk, Sam Alexander Nova, Vance Astro, Yondu, and Titus. They will look amazing in my cosmic character setup.

      • Agreed.
And both of the “repeats” are still waaaaay better than the original MCU figures.
The new Star-Lord head is waaaaaay better, and the sculpt is totally different, and Drax just looks waaaay better with blue pants, and the new head is a MASSIVE improvement over the original head.
        *shrug*

To me, the Build-A-Figure is the only figure I don’t want.
Titus is just a bad, dumb, boring character design, and a character I don’t care about.
A massive white tiger Nova Corp member COULD be a badass character, but the execution here is just SUPER lame.
His gun arm is so cartoony, and his whole body is SUPER PLAIN, and the tiger head just doesn’t look like it belongs….
If they were going to phone in the sculpt of the costume design by just lazily recycling the Venom SpaceKnight body, they could’ve AT LEAST done more intricate and interesting paint, instead of this…..flatness.

    • People skipping Vance Astro blows my mind a little.

I mean, I get it if you don’t know anything about the Guardians Of The Galaxy.
If you don’t know, he’s just a SUPER BASIC figure.

But if you know about the Guardians, then you know Vance Astro is the leader of the original Guardians Of The Galaxy team.
How could you NOT have the leader of the team?
I dunno… I guess we don’t have any of the other original Guardians yet (Well, I mean, we have Yondu, but the original Guardians Yondu is a VERY different version of the character.), so I guess maybe it feels pointless to have the leader?

      I dunno.
I can’t NOT have Vance Astro in my Cosmic Marvel line-up.

      • The GOTG I grew up with had Vance Astro, Yondu, Nikki (fiery hair, green space dress?), some diamond-skinned guy, and Charlie-27 was the “muscle” of the group—I think he was from Jupiter? Although I was less familiar with the movie GOTG roster, I loved it.

But I agree—you have to get Vance Astro!

  7. I’m at dilemma road here. Do you think you would be able to find these in stores? I’m saving my money for the Hot Toys but obviously in that regard won’t have enough for both. I do have cash that if found in stores could absolutely cover the price. Now I know Captain America Civil War was BRUTAL to find I never found it the previous year in stores. DO YOU THINK VOL. 2 WOULD BE THE SAME? IF SO THAT MIGHT DEVASTATE ME. The first movie I was able to find the ML figures no problems. I don’t like to wig out or fear but I don’t want to be one of these people that don’t have it when the effing scalpers have it selling it online..Can someone please respond?

    • Keep in mind that the Hot Toys figures won’t be ready to ship until late summer at the absolute EARLIEST, and the Marvel Legends GOTG will ship in winter/early spring. You don’t get charged until figures ship, so the ML and Hot Toys should be months and months apart. πŸ™‚

      • Thank you so very much. And I agree about it being months apart πŸ˜€ In the upcoming months I’ll be sure to be on the look out for Legends and absolutely have my eyes peeled for any 1/6 updates.

    • Retailers drastically under-ordered the GOTG Legends for the first movie, but I would HOPE they know better this time. I think Angela and Darkhawk and Nova will be tough to find in stores for a while, but Drax and Star-Lord and Vance Astro should–theoretically–by easy pickups. You would think.

      • Yeah I agree with that as well the retailers had things readily available around that time but yeah it was understocked. I would think they do especially now the sequel’s coming out and it’s going to be BIG XD Yeah the Angela, Darkhawk, Nova (which I think was also hard to find in the first line) and I can see Yondu going fast too Yeah I would think Drax the Destroyer, The Legendary Star Lord and Vance Astro (Major Victory) would be like you say easy pickups. I guess I was more worried about it being the exclusivity of Civil War. But yeah last time I didn’t have any issues finding Star Lord and Drax for the line πŸ™‚

      • That’s what I’m counting on.
I grabbed Angela, Nova, Yondu, and Darkhawk, and am just going to wait for Star-Lord, Drax, and Vance Astro to be easy to find, and crash in price to be super cheap later on.

  8. SO excited for Darkhawk, new Nova, and Major Victory! Here’s hoping the other waves this year give us the rest of the original GOTG and Mantis! Help us fill in some of those glaring holes in our Avengers collections.

    • I would LOVE an original Yondu, but don’t particularly care about the other original Guardians.

We KNOW we’re getting 616 Adam Warlock.

Hopefully the 2nd and 3rd waves are like:
      – 616 Adam Warlock
      – original (Earth-691) Yondu
      – 616 white armor Gamora
      – MCU Nebula
      – MCU Mantis
      – MCU Rocket Racoon and Baby Groot
      – Cosmo The Spacedog
      – Silver Surfer
      – Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell)
      – Quasar (Phyla-Vell)
      – Quasar (Wendell Vaughn)
      – Nova (Frankie Raye)
      – Captain Universe (swappable heads for different Captain Universes, like Spider-Man Captain Universe)
      – Spectrum (Monica Rambeau)
      – Beyonder
      – Ronan The Accuser (616 or MCU. We need both.)

      BAFs:
      – Annihilus
      – Living Tribunal
      – Uatu The Watcher

  9. Can someone please tell me who is (Marvel’s) Angela? She reminds me a lot of a character from the Spawn figure line from years ago. Is she the same character?

I haven’t collected comic books on a remotely regular basis in years; they just got too expensive, and thus I’m unaware of character developments in the books. Thanks!

    • Yep, she’s the same Angela from Spawn, purchased by Marvel and long-lost sister of Thor (no, really).

    • Yep. She’s the Spawn character.
      Aldriff Odinsdottir AKA Angela
As her name implies, she’s the daughter of Odin.
Thor’s long-lost older sister, who was stolen during Asgards war with Heaven, and thought dead when Odin banished the entire realm of Heaven from the universe.
She was raised by the angels.
When the angels realised who she really is, they rejected her.
Now she’s back in the universe, where she’s already pissed off her family, conquered Hel, and been hanging out with the Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Neil Gaiman sold her rights to Marvel as a big f-you to Todd McFarlane.
