UPDATE 3/3/2018: We’ve had to be patient, but the official launch date for the Marvel Legends Infinity War series is finally here! And for collectors who only wanted individual figures from Marvel Legends Avengers Infinity War Wave 1, the promised day has arrived: individual figures are now available online of all 7 figures in the wave for $19 each as of writing! Marvel Legends Iron Spider Figure PackagedORIGINAL 2/1/2018: I was having an ordinary 2AM when something a bit, well… out of the ordinary came across my screen: on-shelf retail store photos of the first 2018 Marvel Legends Avengers Infinity War series! Even though Hasbro hasn’t officially unveiled hi-res photos of any of the movie figures in the series just yet, we know the full lineup for Wave 1 now—including the movie Thanos Build-A-Figure, Proxima Midnight and more!

Marvel Legends Infinity War Captain America Packaged

The full lineup reveal for the Avengers Infinity War Marvel Legends Series 1 figures is one of the most drawn-out that we’ve seen, with the first figure (Songbird) being revealed back in July 2017, and the last figures in the wave still not officially revealed now in February 2018 (although they are obviously unofficially revealed at this point, since they’re on store shelves in Australia).

We knew about the three comic book figures that were revealed between SDCC 2017, HasCon 2017 and NYCC 2017, but now we get our first good look at the 6” Infinity War movie figures…

Marvel Legends Bearded Captain America Figure Close-UpFirst up, we’ve got ML Infinity War Captain America with beard! Unfortunately, this costume really doesn’t play to Hasbro’s strong suit, as their “Chris Evans” portraits never look anything like the actor. The body on this figure really isn’t bad, but many collectors are likely to take issue with the sculpt and paint on the head here.

Marvel Legends Infinity War Thanos Build-A-Figure HeadAnd speaking of heads—! Bearded Captain America comes with the head of the not-yet-announced movie Thanos Build-A-Figure! We’re not used to seeing Thanos’ bare head, which I think is throwing some collectors off. I think this portrait for Thanos will be just fine once we see better quality photos of it.

Marvel Legends Infinity War Iron Man Figure ReleasedNext up from the movie lineup is Avengers Infinity War Iron Man. While this revelation inevitably led to a chorus of groans from many collectors, Hasbro is on our side with this release: the new IW Iron Man doesn’t include a Thanos BAF piece, so anyone that doesn’t want to buy another Iron Man won’t be “forced” to do so. Thanks, Hasbro!

Marvel Legends Avengers Infinity War Spider-Man Figure PackagedRounding out the trio of MCU heroes is Marvel Legends Iron Spider Spider-Man!

Close-Up of Iron Spider-Man Infinity War 6" FigureWe could only get Civil War Spidey as part of multipacks, so I’m glad to see he’s possible as an individual figure for Infinity War. This is a cool costume, and one that I’m sure will sell great for Hasbro.

Marvel Legends Proxima Midnight Movie Figure Infinity War PackagedThere’s also one single-packed villain from the wave: Proxima Midnight of the Black Order!

Avengers Legends Infinity War Proxima Midnight 6" FigureThis is the movie version of the character, but given her prominence in perhaps the biggest Marvel movie ever made, I think it’s likely we’ll get a comic book-based Version at some point as well.

Marvel Legends Infinity War Songbird Figure PackagedThe remaining three figures in the series are ones we’ve seen displayed at conventions before: the Fan’s Choice vote-winning Marvel Legends Songbird (revealed at SDCC 2017), the long-delayed King Cobra (revealed at HasCon 2017), and a new classic Taskmaster (revealed at NYCC 2017).

Marvel Legends 2018 Taskmaster Figure Packaged

Songbird ought to sell great, since fans have been asking for the character for quite a few years now, and even though some collectors complained about a new Taskmaster so soon after the modern version, classic Taskmaster is guaranteed money.

Poor King Cobra has pegwarmer written all over him, but hopefully him being packed with the vital left arm of Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet will push Marvel Legends King Cobra off of store shelves and into collectors’ hands.

King Cobra Marvel Legends 2018 Figure in BoxI’ll post updates here and to the Marvel Toy News Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages once pre-orders open up for the Marvel Legends Infinity War Wave 1 figures. Since we have yet to see orders open for the Deadpool and Lizard Series, however, it may be a bit of a wait for the Thanos series POs to open up.

Now that we’ve seen them all, what do you think of the first wave of Avengers Legends Infinity War figures, Marvel collectors? Are the movie figures everything you hoped for, and what are you hoping to see in Wave 2?

Marvel Legends Avengers Infinity War Wave 1 Singles Up for Order! — 62 Comments

    • They meant there was some sort of licensing issue in Civil War that prevented Spider-Man from being released outside of combo packs. Every single Spider-Man figure released for the movie was part of a box set, even the Funko and Hot Toys miniature versions.

  1. I was up in the middle of the night too and was surprised when these images popped up online. Songbird is my favorite from this wave. I’m not that thrilled with Proxima at first glance but she could grow on me. King Cobra seems OK, i really hope that he is at least a different shade of green than Green Goblin, and it would be nice to team him up with Cottonmouth and the Eel. Taskmaster looks good but I’m pretty happy with the version from a few years back so I’ll likely pass on him. No interest in Cap, Spidey, Iron Man from this wave and I’m not a huge fan of the look of MCU Thanos so I can probably skip this BAF. Still, can’t believe how many waves we’ve gotten looks at this early in the year. Pretty exciting start to 2018 for ML fans

  2. As a fan who read Captain America in the 80s, I’m sooooo excited to get King Cobra! Proxima Midnight is a nice offering because she looks big, she’s a villain, and a female villain action figure, at that. Songbird looks cool. The rest are easy passes (although a nice portrait of Captain America would have made the figure more attractive.)

  3. How can so many of the MCU characters get amazing portraits as of late, but we’ve yet to get a decent Chris Evans headsculpt? I was hoping to finally get a decent Steve Rogers and yet this is what they give us…

  4. This Cap…ugh… man, I’m tired of that Age Of Ultron mold.
If Cap dies in Infinity War, and we never get a final MCU Captain America figure with a new, proper, amazing, full-blown Captain America suit, and a shaved Chris Evans head that actually looks like Chris Evans, I’m gonna be pissed.

(That’s actually my biggest indicator that Cap WON’T die until Avengers 4. I can’t imagine them killing him while he’s dressed as a hobo. Storytelling dictates that our greatest hero reclaims his full glory and then goes out in a blaze of glory, rather than dying a fugitive hobo who has eschewed his colors and legendary shield.
I guess it’s possible that he gets a new costume and shield in Infinity War, but this figure pretty much cements to me that this is his only look in this movie, especially since Infinity War Wave 2 doesn’t contain a 2nd Captain America figure.)

The Iron Man figure looks amazing, actually. That may very well supplant the brand new ANAD Iron Man figure as the best Iron Man figure.
The paintjob, sculpt, and articulation all LOOK great from here. Hopefully they didn’t somehow screw up the articulation again, like they have on so many other Iron Man movie figures.

Iron Spider looks beautiful, but if this turns out to be another Captain Falcon situation(where we didn’t get Falcons wings), and it turns out that this Iron Spider is supposed to have Iron Spider waldos(as shown by the LEGO version), but this figure doesn’t come with them….that would be pretty aggravating.
If he’s supposed to have Iron Spider legs, he better come with Iron Spider legs.

    Proxima Midnight looks….*shrug*, whatever.

The Thanos BAF looks cool, but if we don’t get a fully armored MCU Thanos in the waves for Avengers 4, I’m gonna be real annoyed that we got this one instead.

    Songbird looks cool.

Taskmaster looks great, but I’m not sure if he’s going to replace Udon Taskmaster on my shelf. It’s hard to beat that lightsaber, that armor, and the arsenal he’s able to carry due to not wearing a cape.

King Cobra looks…..fine. I guess I’m collecting the Serpent Society now? Apparently I’ll eventually have enough of these guys that even the lame ones will seem worthwhile just to complete the set. That’s kinda weird. I’m half inclined to go back and pick up Constrictor now.
Because lets be real, aside from Spider-Man villains, the heroes WILDLY outnumber the villains in pretty much every Marvel Legends collection. A big weird villain team would actually kinda help even that out. That’s something, I guess.

  5. Easy passes on Cap, Proxima, and Spidey.

Iron Man is cool looking but I haven’t decided if its good enough to break my “never buy MCU figures unless I need a BAF part” rule. I ended up with the Civil War version because I liked the look and he always fits in with comic displays – so I can’t rule this one out entirely.

MCU Thanos is great news for me as skipping the aforementioned movie figures is cemented by an MCU BAF. My wallet is grateful.

Taskmaster, King Cobra, and Songbird will all be added to the collection. As it seems like many collectors care more about the MCU and less about the comic characters I’m hoping I can get these guys loose and for cheap.

For the first time in a while I’m pleased to see a movie-dominated wave since I can barely keep up with all the releases Hasbro has been shoveling our way! LOL

  6. Are the pictures low res? These figures look a bit grimy to me. That said I am in Canada and I already got my Lizard set strangely enough so I am hoping to see these soon

    • We gotta wait for Hasbro to officially send out the hi-res pics. All we have for now are in-person photos collectors took in Australia.

  7. Not sold on a lot of the figures in this wave, but on the other hand I do want that Thanos BAF…

    • “And double thwip hands makes me want to die.” You win my favorite comment of the day! =D

    • They need to stop with the devil worshipper hand gesture on Spider-Man.

  8. Songbird is a sure one for me. That Spidey has caught my eye as well, but I will wait for more pics on that one. I do not need an extra Cap or Iron Man. The other ones I do not really care much for (KC and PM) and/or do not like the design that much (PM and sadly, Thanos), plus I already have the previous Taskmaster..

  9. Not sure about this wave. That Cap likeness may depend on the angle~there was one photo posted over on the fwoosh where it looks much better. Iron Man still has the same poorly painted tacky red plastic syndrome that Hasbro Iron Men just cannot seem to escape. Iron Spider lacks any fancy Stark-y gizmos and doesn’t have the same amount of textured detail as the others. (I don’t know why, but Civil War, Homecoming and now Infinity War Legends figures all seem to me to get the webbing texture so wrong. They remind me of the Sony Spidey, more than the MCU one.) Proxima Midnight is a character I know nothing about but she looks fantastic. Songbird looks interesting, as does Taskmaster. Snake Bloke does nothing for me though. And then Thanos…I’m just not sure about this look. I think I’ll wait until the film comes out-If he suits up, up waiting for a figure from Avengers 4. If not, I might get the comic figure or this one, depending on how well he comes across in the film. Or maybe the head from this one on the comic body. I’m glad to see though, that questionable likenesses aside, Hasbro MLs get more detailed with every series.

      • Not Wave 2 either.
We’re getting a Vision and Scarlet Witch 2-pack.

        Avengers Wave 2 is supposedly:
        – Malekith (probably a repaint of the SDCC exclusive version)
        – Black Knight (comic version)
        – Black Widow (probably MCU)
        – Wasp (probably MCU)
        – Ant-Man (probably MCU)
        – Thor (probably MCU)

  10. So far this year, this is the wave I’m most excited for, but that’s probably tied in to 1) my love of Thunderbolts/Songbird and 2) my excitement for the Infinity War movie. A few obvious issues (2 thwip hands and no alternates, bad likeness of Evans) but I love the overall look of most of the figures. I was even in the “another Iron Man?” camp, but this one looks pretty cool.

Definitely hoping for a Wave 2, but with such a huge cast in the movie, it’s hard to guess who to expect, beyond the already revealed Black Knight comic fig. Corvus Glaive’s staff is visible in the trailer, so I’m betting we’ll get a fig of him to go with Proxima. Maybe Blonde Widow, or eyepatch-Thor, or teen-Groot. I figure if they do a Wave 2, it’ll either be a comic BAF or a regular-sized fig, like Scarlet Witch or MCU Shuri or another of the Black Order, but we’ll probably also see exclusive 2-packs and/or 3-packs to fill in some of the other cast members.

For comic figs, I really hope they do more Thunderbolts to go with Songbird.

    • Thinking more about double thwip hands Spidey, and I’m betting we’ll see a version with alternate hands and an effects piece or alternate head or something else as part of a 2-pack or 3-pack, like how unmasked Homecoming Spidey was only available in the 2-pack with the Iron Man drone.

  11. Hey, I think these look amazing! Now if they still look good to me when my awful Wal-Mart finally puts them on the pegs is another matter.

I hope “Pirate” Thor and Black Knight are in the same wave; been hording my pre-order cash for quite awhile in anticipation of it!

  12. Hmmm.. I wonder if that Thanos arm that comes with King Cobra fits neatly into my Thanos build a figure from before… I’m looking for Songbird, King Cobra, and that’s it. Unless something shows up super cheap at some point.

  13. I was having Goosebumps when they Revealed the Iron Spider in Homecoming but I must say that I always loved the comic version. Would be great if they had added possible Iron Spider Arms alone for repaint options for Superior Doc Ock Spiderman. But there is always shapeways I guess.

    • I think there is a 2-pack coming with Vision and Scarlet Witch. I’m with you though, its mind-boggling that there isn’t a single-card MCU Vision by now. I tend to think of the Hulkbuster wave Vision as my MCU version but have been tempted to get a knockoff mcu vision many times. Since I already have the MCU Scarlet witch figure I’m not exactly thrilled about getting her again in a 2-pack, although it will likely be an improved version

    • it is pretty surprising that he’s not wearing his armor from his earlier movie appearances.. but he doesn’t really seem to have the armor in the IW trailer so I guess Hasbro took its cues from that.

      • Infinity War is the first half of the story.
I’m betting we’re going to see full armor Thanos in Avengers 4, and THAT’S when we get the Legends version of that.

  14. no lo se rick , no me termina de convencer esta wave la cara del capitan es horrible mejor me espero a un thanos con armadura y ni hablar del iron spider sin manos intercabiables ni tentaculos

  15. Wish Proxima had the headdress. That’s like her thing. It worked for Hela in Ragnarok! Why wouldn’t it work in Infinity War? Oh well I’m still buying it.

  16. Not sure WHY spider-man is ALWAYS the hardest figure to get when these waves release. Tech suit spidey was the hardest to track down in that wave, and now iron spidey sold out instantly here. You had to click “other sellers” to get him at 19.99, and the ship date quickly kept changing from back order on March 9th to the 15th, and the 19th before I finally got my order in. Plus he kept going oos so i had to keep adding him back to my cart and hoping the order would place. Ordered him and proxima midnight for now. Damn that was hard.

Oh and FYI the scarlet witch/vision 2 pack is up for order at toys r us, along with the 2 motorcycle figs @ $40 each.

  17. Sometimes it’s surprising which figure sells out first. I got Songbird at Walmart earlier this week and also am looking for Taskmaster (I really only collect the comics-based designs, not movie versions). But…Taskmaster is already back to inflated prices on Amazon. Ah well. I was a little worried when the BP wave first hit but then that wave really wound up everywhere. I don’t get nervous about finding ML figures like I do with Star Wars sometimes. Marvel figures have gotten pretty good with availability. Just have to be patient!

  18. I went to a few stores and it was kinda funny how all the merchandise was out EXCEPT the marvel legends figures. Toys r us had about 7 iron mans but none of the others.

  19. Saw this wave at a Houston-area Gamestop, marked up a few dollars of course. It feels weird to be finding these in stores before the Lizard and Sasquatch waves that have been shown off months and months before this one.

  20. I just got all 7 from hasbrotoyshop with 20% off ($16 a piece). My son’s going to have a exciting 4th birthday! Hopefully I can find the toys r us exclusive vision and Scarlett witch also.

  21. Darn, can’t find anywhere where I could buy the Iron Spider for MSRP 🙁 Anyone have any luck or did I miss out yesterday?

  22. In case anyone didn’t know I just saw that Proxima Midnight has double jointed elbows! I am definitely getting her now. I’ll probably get her and Iron Spider.

  23. I would give almost anything for this beard thing to go away. Facial hair is so disgusting on everyone in every form. Even stubble, Please, planet Earth, I’m begging you.. shave your GD faces.

    • What’s wrong with you; can you not grow a full beard yourself or something? I’m thinking you’ve got peach fuzz or some shaggy from Scooby Doo thing going on over there. A full, clearly defined, regularly trimmed beard is an asset. Keep it fresh, keep it neat. A beard can help hide/better define a weak jaw line; especially if you’re overweight and subsequently have a fat neck. Do it right and maintain it care; you’ll go a long way.

  24. I’d say if you shop Walmart make sure to check the unpacked boxes they leave atop the shelves (all the way up there) or overnight when they’re bringing stuff from the back and leaving it on pallets to be unpacked. Those guys are so lazy…

Last week I had to dig just a little but I found an entire unopened box labeled “AVN Infinity War 6″ Action Figures”. I pulled it and opened it up myself; VOILA! The ENTIRE set was in there so I was able to grab them all. Ended up doing the same a few days later to get the Walmart exclusive Thanos. Good luck to everyone!

  25. I’ve been to walmart a few times the past week to try and track down mainly the thanos exclusive. Brickseek went from showing 6 available to instantly sold out and there was none on the shelves so I’m guessing I missed that. Usually they come back a few times in stores. Heck the black panther comic version exclusive took a while to hit my store and now is clearanced to $9 so that one is easy to find even tho i paid $20 for it originally. Hoping Thanos pops back up or finally shows up online available to order! Tempted to pay the $35 ebay prices but I need to just show patience.

  26. Now that I’ve got the wave, I can say I’m about 50/50 on it leaning slightly more towards good.

    – Cap: That head is disappointing, but not quite as bad in person, I feel. Still not great, though. Pretty much the same cap figure with a new head and his Star isn’t white. Oh and a Wakandan shield… so there’s that I suppose.

    – Iron Man: I hate this figure, The plastic looks and feels cheap and had some nasty mold lines and burs along the seams. No articulation on the hands in the blasting pose.

    – King Cobra: I actually really like this figure. That scalemail body from Gobby really looks good, and the cape stays on without back-peg support. Nice looking fig for a secondary comic villain.

    – Songbird: I’m glad to have the character, and the figure is ok, but nothing special. The pink sound-wings-thing looks good enough, but there’s not much to it.

    – Taskmaster: My all-time favorite Marvel villain. He’s well done. If you still have the Toybiz Tasky, you may not need this one (although the mask on this one is better), but if you don’t, and you want his classic costume, this is a pretty great figure.

    – Iron Spider: This figure is pretty disappointing. Double-thwip hands with no alternates and no mechanical arms, bleh.

    – Proxima Midnight: I actually really like this figure a lot. Nice details, really solid feel, double jointed elbows on a female character. It just feels very well-done.

    – BAF Thanos: Y’know, I didn’t think I’d like this figure, but I actually do like it quite a bit. It’s big and solid and the paint application on mine is pretty clean. The design isn’t very intricate, but still looks pretty good. Turns out, I’m pretty happy to have it on my MCU shelf.

  27. As far as the Black Widow and Ghost Rider motorcycles are concerned, I can’t see how they justify charging the same thing for both figures.

    – Ghost Rider: Amazing. This figure is terrific. A fantastic sculpt, great translucent flame effects on both the rider and the bike (removable from the bike!), nice articulation (including articulated jaw!), removable skull shield from the bike, if you want a more classic bike look, yellow flaming rubber tires, and an awesomely painted translucent to metal-paint flaming chain. If you don’t already have a Ghost Rider in your collection, you’ve lucked out.

    – Black Widow: This cost the same as the Ghost Rider I just described? The figure is pretty average. but the face is expressionless. Good thing we got an alternate head with long hair… and it’s also completely expressionless. The bike plastic feels cheap and “clicky”, and they only bothered to put the Black Widow logo on the side of the bike facing out.
