LEGO Marvel collectors got a highly unexpected–and highly expensive–surprise this weekend when a totally unannounced LEGO Marvel minifigure polybag sold online for $187 after being given out at a LEGO KidsFest event in Virginia. This minifigure polybag is going to be of major interest to LEGO Marvel completists, because the LEGO 5002125 polybag is currently the only known way to get an Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie Electro LEGO minifigure!
But despite the fact that the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie was in theaters shortly after LEGO 76014 was released, the set was Ultimate Spider-Man based and gave us a LEGO Ultimate Electro minifigure rather an Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie LEGO Electro minifigure. Seeing as how LEGO would have to license through Sony to produce any LEGO Amazing Spider-Man 2 items, I was highly doubtful we’d ever see anything from the movie released.
But then, literally out of nowhere,LEGO up and decided to give away a surprise LEGO Movie Electro minifigure polybag at the Virginia LEGO KidsFest this weekend! The movie Electro LEGO 5002125 polybag contains a LEGO Electro figure in his Amazing Spider-Man 2 costume that is totally unique and obviously the movie version of the character.
The ID number for the set–LEGO 5002125–is the type of number given only to LEGO promotional items. So we shouldn’t be seeing the ASM2 LEGO Electro 5002125 figure sold in stores anytime soon. Instead, the figure will be limited to promotional giveaways of some sort.
With no known mass release planned, LEGO Marvel collectors are obviously concerned about this LEGO Electro movie polybag not being easy to find, as the LEGO Electro polybag 5002125 listed online sold for $187.38 this weekend! Crazy!! I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m content to wait and see if this figure gets a wider distribution before I even consider shelling out close to 200 bucks for it.
What are your thoughts on this surprise-release LEGO Amazing Spider-Man 2 Electro minifigure, Marvel fans? Are you willing to pay the big bucks to add this to your collection, staying patient to see if it’s released in mass, or are you just not interested in this LEGO Electro figure at all?
It’s now going to be a toys r us promotional item, very much like the rocket raccoon and baby groot minifigure.
i literally just picked this fig up at my local store for 3.99… is it no longer valuable?
where though?
