Along with the wholly unexpected launch of Disney+ Marvel Legends Wave 4 last week, Hasbro announced one more item during that livestream event. And after a week of waiting, the time has come: the Amazon Exclusive Spider-Man & Villains 5-Pack is now up for order, featuring 6” figures of Razorback, Human Fly, Purple Symbiote Ultimate Spider-Man and more!
Hasbro stunned everyone when they debuted Razorback and Human Fly Marvel Legends figures at SDCC 2022 last month, but I don’t think anyone could have foreseen the 3 figures that would be packed alongside them to fill out the latest Marvel Legends Amazon Exclusive set!
This set seems to closely parallel last year’s Wolverine box set 5-pack that contained a semi-unique Logan variant and 4 less-mainstream villains, although I think that set actually had several noticeably more popular characters in it (such as Omega Red and Callisto).
The centerpiece of this set is a never-before-done Spidey variant that… doesn’t exactly make sense: Ultimate Spider-Man in purple symbiote costume. I miss this old teen buck mold, and I actually think young Peter looks really fun in the briefly-seen purple-ish costume. This is my personal favorite thing in the entire box set, even if this version of Spidey has never been in a comic with these other-universe villains.
Marvel Legends Silvermane is a figure fans have requested for years, and it’s nice to get the Maggia boss with more than an RC car for his body. Fans have been using the Ultimate Beetle body for a few years to make this character, but it’s nifty to get an official version.
Human Fly has got to be among the most obscure ML action figures ever produced, and I can’t see this character ever getting another toy… ever. His new yelling head looks great, and Siryn has got to be jealous.
Razorback is one of the goofier and more fun characters Hasbro has ever done, and I expect to see high eBay prices for this quirky boar head-topped dude once this set releases. Almost certainly the most-wanted thing in this multipack.
Finally, we’ve got the long-demanded Marvel Legends Molten Man. I’m genuinely surprised it’s taken so long since fake Molten Man’s appearance in Spider-Man Far from Home. That said, I think the mold used for him looks way too slight/thin, and it seems like it was only picked because of its compatibility to existing fire effects. The head looks too big on the body and I just plain don’t like this particular figure. I wouldn’t mind seeing a redo of this in a single-pack.
The Marvel Legends Amazon Spider-Man 5-Pack is now up for pre-order, and will be shipping out this winter. Despite how expediently their recent Venom 3-Pack’s first batch sold out, I have a difficult time seeing interest in this set being nearly as high.
What do you think of this Spider-Man vs. Villains multi-pack, Marvel collectors? Are any of these figures a must-have for your collection, and will you be purchasing this set?
Cool to get a Molten Man figure finally…but I agree, wish it was better. Silvermane and the other villains look great though, and yeah, odd pick for a Spidey variant, but I’ll take it. Pretty fun looking set.
Sold! Wish it would have been Vermin and/or Will of the Wisp or maybe even Tarantula and/or a revisit of Chameleon but I’ll take Spidey villains everyday ALL day. The “purple” Spidey is a definite “oh, what the hell…” but I’m sensing an entire Sinister Six pack on the horizon in the near future. I’m actually savvy with my Molten Man BAF from a few years ago so that and the Spidey are the only figures that don’t generate any excitement from me. But I am concerned about all these Spidey and Spidey-related figures being pinged as exclusives.
I’m not a fan of these multi-packs. They are usually to spendy, with usually 1-2 figures I just don’t want. This pack has Silverman (which looks amazing), and that’s it for me. Molten Man is a long-time coming, but I agree, this character deserved better. The Human Fly is a complete dud, and Razorback doesn’t scream “need” for me. And the symbiotic Spidey doesn’t have any draw for me.
If wish I had not missed out on the Hellfire Club one a bit back.
