I’m a homebody and try my absolute hardest not to go any further away from New England than New York (although London is looking good next summer). Luckily, I’ve got friends without those compunctions, and one of them was kind enough to take photos of the new Marvel figures at the Diamond Select Toys booth at C2E2 2015 today–including the Marvel Select Doctor Strange and the big reveal of the two top-secret Avengers Age of Ultron Minimates figures!
Nobody puts on a convention like ReedPOP, in my opinion, so even though I’ve never been to a C2E2, I have no doubt that it’s a great event.
Diamond Select Toys must think so too, because they’ve returned for the 2015 C2E2 and brought along some new and never-before-seen Marvel figures!
I’m not really sure why Disney made Diamond Select Toys keep the Grey Hulk Minimates figure a secret when Hot Topic has been advertising their Funko Savage Hulk POP Vinyls figure for month, but I think we can at least take this as confirmation that Grey Hulk is in the Avengers Age of Ultron movie.
As I speculated earlier this week, the Marvel Select Doctor Strange figure that just went up for pre-order debuted publicly for the first time at C2E2 2015.
Dr. Strange still doesn’t seem to have any hex effects pieces or accessories beyond his display stand, but man–what a gorgeous sculpt! Collectors who don’t get orders in on time for the first production run of this Doctor Strange Marvel Select figure are really going to be missing out!
Also on the Minimates Marvel Movie figures front, the Minimates Ant-Man figures debuted publicly for the first time at the 2015 C2E2!
I saw three of the four Ant-Man Minimates figures at the 2015 New York Toy Fair (Hank Pym, Janet Van Dyne and Scott Lang Ant-Man), but this was the first time the Yellowjacket Minimates figure has been revealed.
The Marvel Select Ant-Man figure was also displayed, and look tremendous. If the Ant-Man movie is a hit (and I’m still very skeptical of that), this figure is definitely going to be a hot one on the aftermarket.
The Marvel Select Avengers Age of Ultron Black Widow and Thor figures with their interlocking diorama bases were shown off in all their glory as well. Black Widow has gotten a bit of a cold reception from many collectors, but I’ll be buying her nonetheless. And the connected base looks terrific!
Various other DST Marvel figures were on display, including the just-released Classic X-Men Minimates, the gruesome Marvel Select Zombie Sabertooth and more. Diamond Select is definitely ready to seize Marvel collectors’ wallets this summer!
What do you think of the new and upcoming Diamond Select Toys Marvel Select and Marvel Minimates figures shown at C2E2, Marvel fans? Is there anything here you’re drooling over adding to your collection, and do DST’s latest offerings miss the mark with you?
The Scarlet J figure is still ugly.
I want all the Avengers bases to interlock in some way or another. DST get on it!
Steven Strange looks awesome! the idea of grey Hulk bores me! …wheres Vision and Quicksilver. No Olsen Witch please. I like the Disney Thor with swinging Mjolnir ! And i hate goldilocks…
As for Antman, i feel like im starting to get excited… even though trailers for the film havent convinced me yet.
im not always a fan of the movie versions, but this time it just looks right!
I don’t see how it looks ugly it looks like a prefect representation to me.
