X-Men 92 has a long-standing legacy with fans as being among the greatest superhero cartoons of all-time. It’s also how mutants permeated my 10-year-old brain, beginning my life-long love of the X-Men. So when I was given a chance to have a review sample of the Diamond Select Toys X-Men Animated Series Gambit mini bust by Entertainment Earth, I jumped at the opportunity. Now that I’ve spent some time with the first resin Gambit animated statue ever, does the Rajun Cajun spark as much love from me as he did almost 30 years ago?

Sideshow Collectibles’ once rapidly-expanding lineup of 1/4 Premium Format X-Men statues has slowed to a glacial pace over the last two years, but Iron Studios is picking up the slack and popping out 1/10 X-Men statues at an unprecedented rate—including never-before-done-as-statues characters like Spiral and even Elsie-Dee/Albert! It seems with their smaller, more affordable Battle Diorama Series, Iron Studios has hit a sweet spot with modern collectors with limited space and disposable funds! As they captured my full attention long, long ago, I figured it was high time I review something from the X-Men line: focusing on the Deluxe Magneto Iron Studios BDS statue!
Continue Reading →If there’s one villain that was wronged by the first 19 years of Marvel Legends, it’s Ultron. Toybiz’s long-eared attempt was universally hated, and Hasbro’s first efforts weren’t quite on the ball either. But for this year’s series of Iron Man Marvel Legends, Hasbro finally hit a home run. Ultron quickly sold out through most online retailers, and has been difficult to locate at retail stores. But finally, I had the opportunity to sit down and review my own classic Ultron Marvel Legends Figure!
Continue Reading →It’s been a long 19 months since it first debuted at pre-global pandemic New York Toy Fair 2020, but the most iconic member of the Nova Corps is finally ready to fly in as part of the Diamond Select Toys September 2020 solicitations: the Marvel Gallery Nova PVC statue is now up for order! And Richard Rider won’t be the only new value-priced fan favorite Marvel statue —the Gentle Giant Skottie Young styled Marvel Animated Scarlet Witch statue is also on the way!
Continue Reading →Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings had an explosively successful Labor Day opening weekend, and that means it’s time to start getting pumped for the next (hopefully) big thing in the MCU: the Eternals! I have some doubts about the mainstream marketability of the Eternals, but nothing ventured, nothing gained—and the LEGO Group is not afraid to take risks on major Marvel Studios movies! A quartet of LEGO Eternals sets have been officially revealed on the LEGO Shop website and are coming our way in just a few weeks!
Continue Reading →After years making their mark in the collecting sphere with Marvel movie-based statues, Iron Studios finally gained the attention of superhero comics-based collectors everywhere when they debuted their line of 1/10 X-Men Sentinel diorama statues two years ago. The X-Men BDS (Battle Diorama Series) has since become an ever-expanding “golden goose” for the company—and now the line is expanding even further! The Iron Studios Havok and Magik statues are now up for order, and upcoming X-Men statues of Spiral, Mojo and Sauron have been revealed!
Continue Reading →It’s been a while since I reported on any LEGO news here on Marvel Toy News, but today we got just the right mega-announcement to ease back into talking about LEGO Marvel once again! After years of rumors and requests by fans, it’s finally happening! LEGO Marvel minifigures will be sold in blind-bagged form, set-free, for the first time ever: the 71031 LEGO Marvel Studios Minifigures Series of blind bagged figures has now been revealed, including characters from Loki, What If?, WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier!
Continue Reading →It’s hard to believe since the perception of time went all screwy when a pandemic threw off the rhythm of the entire world, but it’s been over a year-plus now that we’ve known Iron Studios had an exclusive 1/10 scale Juggernaut statue on the way as a stand-alone (separate from the Sentinel) part of their X-Men statues series. Cain arrived internationally months ago, but the time has arrived for US folk: the limited Iron Studios Juggernaut exclusive statue is now up for order only on Sideshow’s website!

Hasbro dropped loads of new Marvel Legends figures (and a $400 World-Devourer) earlier in the month, and Hot Toys had their big week of premieres last week. Luckily for statue fans, Diamond Select Toys (and Sideshow Collectibles) have some goodies to show off (and sell). Let’s begin with DST, whose new Legends in 3D Green Goblin Bust and Marvel Gallery Spider-Man PVC statue are now up for order!
Continue Reading →One of the companies I haven’t talked about here on Marvel Toy News in a long time is XM Studios, who make some of the finest Marvel 1/4 statues in all the land. Since XM doesn’t have a US distribution license for their Marvel statues, they are generally immensely expensive to procure domestically. Even so, I want to get back to diversifying and talking about every option out there—and this is a good time to do so, because the XM Studios Rhino statue is now up for order! This massive XM Rhino 1/4 will set high-end collectors back a grand-plus: is this beast looking worth it?
Continue Reading →This week gave us a much-needed break with nary a new Hasbro Marvel Legends pre-order to be found (although the Loki Marvel Legends Sylvie figure was revealed), but it also brought us one of my favorite days of every month: new Diamond Select Toys solicitations day! And along with a plethora of Marvel Select reissues, DST is ready to seize statue fans wallets with three all-new items across a wide spectrum: the Marvel Premier Collection Cyclops Statue, Gallery Thor PVC statue and Animated Doc Ock bust are all now up for order!
Continue Reading →With events where we’d usually see new Marvel figures revealed cancelled over the last year-plus, I am tremendously missing seeing smaller companies like Mezco Toyz unveil their announcements under a huge automatic hype-generating spotlight. Their latest Marvel reveal would definitely have been incredibly buzz-worthy if it had premiered at, say, Toy Fair—but it’s gotten the attention of many collectors nonetheless: the Mezco ONE:12 Collective Fantastic Four figures box set is now up for order! Does this set capture your attention… and $420?
Continue Reading →A new year is upon us in 2021, but even with the new year and the president, we can still rest assured that the consistency of a new round of Diamond Select Toys Marvel solicitations will come each and every month. And this month, while there’s no Marvel Select figure news, there are new additions for fans of the rest of DST’s lines: the Marvel Animated Gamora statue, Premier Collection Lizard statue and Marvel Gallery Wolverine PVC figure are all now up for order!
Continue Reading →Yesterday I covered the figures and statues in the Diamond Select Toys October 2020 solicitations, and now it’s time to finish the job by looking at the two new Marvel busts that they’ll be adding to their lineups in early 2021: the 1/2 scale Legends in 3D Carnage Bust and X-Men Animated Rogue Bust are now up for order! These are two headliner characters being captured in value-priced bust lines for the first time in over a decade—are they must-haves?
Continue Reading →As I have increasingly less free display space in my home and increasingly more multiple toys of the same characters, I’ve started cutting back and passing on some pricy Marvel import figures that I previously would have bought. But today’s surprise new Marvel MAFEX figure solicitation is definitely one I would never consider skipping: MAFEX Ben Reilly Spider-Man is now up for order! The Sensational Spider-Man costume is my favorite costume for Spidey—is this action figure also destined to be one of my favorites?
