If you have no clue what the heck “MAFEX” is, I’ll forgive you. See, Medicom just launched the Japananese MAFEX (Miracle Action Figure EX) line of action figures in Spring 2013, and there have only been two releases in the line thus far (MAFEX #1 Amazing Spider-Man and MAFEX #2 Batman). MAFEX #3 is set to arrive a full year after its predecessors, and, well… it’s Spider-Man again. But as far as Amazing Spider-Man 2 action figures go, this MAFEX Amazing Spider-Man 2 figure is looking pretty decent… but maybe not decent enough for its price-tag…

Despite consisting entirely of fairly obscure characters, the Guardians of the Galaxy have managed to land themselves a starring role in a huge summer blockbuster (I hope) coming to theaters in August 2014. It’s been rumored that LEGO might take advantage of the hype surrounding the GOTG with a LEGO Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy theme, and it’s now confirmed that the rumors are true! Coming Summer 2014–LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy sets!
Continue Reading →There’s probably not a whole lot of folks out there that collect them, but I know for a fact that Marvel Micro Muggs collectors do exist! And for those collectors, this is the time to get psyched up, because Hasbro has brought Micro Muggs back to stores with new assortment of twelve Avengers Micro Muggs blind boxed figures! My Target finally reset and put out these Avengers Assemble Micro Muggs that were sitting in the back room for weeks, and while I’ve avoided being bitten by the Micro Muggs bug up until now, that was before Micro Muggs Loki and MODOK…
Continue Reading →Over the years, I’ve made a lot of great new toy discoveries on New Year’s Eve toy runs. This was not one of those years. I went out today in search of the Hasbro Marvel Legends 2014 figures, and I (mostly) struck out. But what I found instead were some monstrosities that I had heard about–but decided in my mind couldn’t possibly be real. Check out the very first (and hopefully only) series of Hasbro Marvel Super Hero Mashers figures… starring Captain Iron Spider-Hulk and more!
Continue Reading →On the exact same day that I receive a $300 1/6 scale figure of a character variation that appears on-screen in a movie for the blink of an eye, another company announces an even bigger 1/4 scale version of that figure for less than a third of the price. This is a crazy, crazy world that we live in.
Though they’re a little bit late to the house party protocol, NECA is stepping up to the bat with their own take on the Midas armor! Coming in 2014–the NECA Midas Iron Man Mark XXI 1/4 figure!
Continue Reading →Not to be outdone by Batman, Spider-Man is busting his Spider-Helicopter out of the garage next year and taking his fight against crime to the sky! Didn’t know Spider-Man owned a giant attack helicopter? Neither did anyone else, but LEGO has the inside scoop! Last but not least in my coverage of the LEGO Marvel 2014 sets, it’s the set that can rival all of the others from this wave in both minifigures and wackiness factor–the 2014 LEGO Marvel Spider-Helicopter Rescue 76016!
Continue Reading →Doctor Octopus has appeared more times in LEGO minifigure form than any other LEGO Marvel villain. So you would probably think that with there being five previous LEGO Doc Ock minifigure releases, at least one of those would have been a classic comic-inspired Doctor Octopus figure. Nope! Every single one of those LEGO Doctor Octopus (Octopi?) figures has been based on the Spider-Man 2 movie or Ultimate Spider-Man. But the classic Doctor Octopus LEGO minifigure we’ve all been dreaming of will finally arrive in 2014, as part of LEGO Marvel Doc Ock’s Truck Heist 76015!
Continue Reading →We’re at the halfway mark of discussing the five new-for-2014 Marvel LEGO sets, and this time I’m going to take a look at what’s only the second LEGO set ever built around Captain America! While logic dictates that this winter-releasing Captain America LEGO set would be related to the Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie, it’s actually more like a blast from the past–it’s the LEGO Marvel Captain America vs. Hydra 76017 set!
Continue Reading →I started off coverage of the LEGO Marvel 2014 sets by discussing the largest set coming this winter, and now it’s time to take a look at the smallest set. While you might think at a glance that this set is an actual LEGO Amazing Spider-Man 2 set, it’s actually not quite what it appears to be.
Coming later this winter, it’s the Spider-Man LEGO Spider-Trike vs. Electro 76014!
Continue Reading →Slowly but surely we’ve learned the early 2014 plans for Marvel toys from Hasbro, Hot Toys, Diamond Select and so on, and now it’s LEGO’s turn! LEGO is ready to capitalize on the blockbuster sales of the LEGO Marvel video game by rolling out five new LEGO Marvel 2014 sets this winter! I’ll begin by looking at the set most likely to be the favorite of collectors everywhere–the 2014 LEGO Marvel Hulk Lab Smash 76018 set with LEGO MODOK and Falcon minifigures and more!
Continue Reading →It’s not Marvel toy news and I’m no movie critic (I leave that to the experts over at Now Playing podcast), but a couple people wanted to know my thoughts on the first full-length the Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer that was released yesterday.
There will be loads of Amazing Spider-Man 2 toys to talk about next year, so I’m going to squeeze this into the “related content” category and give my quick initial impressions of the 2014 Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie trailer…
Continue Reading →Though full details and photos have leaked out of virtually every single LEGO 2014 winter set, LEGO has been extra-stingy with information and images of their 2014 LEGO Marvel offerings. I’ve got some confidential-stamped images (that I can’t post, for obvious reasons), but otherwise LEGO has managed to keep their LEGO Marvel 2014 intel very close to their vest.
Luckily, a few minifigures have snuck out, and those I actually can share: the LEGO Marvel Mary Jane & Power Man minifigures!
Continue Reading →It’s been a good half of a year since 3A Toys shared a teaser photo of their first Marvel sixth scale figure entry, this week they finally deigned to give us a better look at the unpainted prototype of the upcoming 3A Toys Iron Man 1/6 figure!
The amount of Iron Man swag out there this year is totally unreal and off-the-charts, but I guarantee that 3AToys has designed an Iron Man figure like none that have come before it…
Continue Reading →LEGO has done a commendable job keeping their sets for next year under wraps up until now, but as we approach the new year leaks were bound to be sprung–and one such leak occurred this weekend, when the Canadian Walmart website accidentally posted the first hi-res images of one of the LEGO Marvel 2014 sets. You’ll realize pretty quickly that this may not be the most impressive LEGO Marvel set ever, but the LEGO Spider-Man Spider-Car Pursuit 10665 still has a couple things in its favor…
Continue Reading →I’m starting to feel like I’m the bringer of all bad news and gloom these last couple days, but it looks like I’ve got a few more unfortunate tidings to convey.
After gaining some momentum and a lot of interest by their appearances at major conventions throughout the summer, Play Imaginative announced yesterday that their entire Iron Man Super Alloy figures line in both 1/4 and 1/12 scales will now be delayed until 2014…
