Over the last year or two, the Hasbro Marvel Universe line has really slowed down a near-grinding halt. With only a handful of new Marvel Universe action figures coming out each year, Marvel collectors long for the days of yesteryear when it seemed like there were new Marvel Universe 3.75″ figures on the pegs every month. While the line isn’t expected to pick up speed again anytime soon (if ever), prototypes have been found of at least one new Marvel Universe 2013 Team Pack to get excited about: the Marvel Universe Deadpool Corps figures!
Prototypes have been found online (through postings made by thieves stealing the figures from the overseas Hasbro factories and then selling them on ebay, mind you) of four of the five members of the Deadpool Corps: Lady Deadpool, Kidpool, Championpool, and Dogpool. Kidpool and Dogpool look to be static PVC figures, along the lines of the Marvel Universe Rocket Raccoon and Groot figures that came in the Marvel Universe Guardians of the Galaxy team set.
The last member of the team, Headpool, may or may not be produced as part of the set, as a disembodied severed head might be seen by Disney as just a little too gruesome to get greenlit for production.
Given the fact that the Deadpool Corps are a niche team, this set is probably going to be the San Diego Comic Con 2013 Marvel Universe exclusive. We’ve gotten Marvel Universe SDCC exclusive team packs several times in the past, so it would only make sense for the obviously-in-production-already Deadpool Corps figures to be the SDCC 2013 Marvel Universe exclusive.
Hasbro has not officially announced the Deadpool Corps Marvel Universe team pack for release at this time, but as the set has clearly already been in production at the factory, I’d expect that we’ll see the official announcement from Hasbro within the next few weeks (particularly if this is going to be a Hasbro SDCC 2013 exclusive). You can Follow Marvel Toy News on Facebook to have news and updates sent directly to your Facebook Newsfeed. I’ll post an update once Hasbro lets us know when and where the Deadpool Corps set will be available.
