Whether you love the Disney Infinity 2.0 video game or absolutely loathe it (and there are plenty of Marvel fans who feel each way), there’s no denying that Disney has a real sales juggernaut (no, not that Juggernaut) on hand with the franchise. So it’s only fitting that the stars of Disney’s latest (hopefully) hit movie gets the Disney Infinity treatment. And just in time for the release of the Big Hero 6 movie, they have–the Disney Infinity Baymax and Hiro Hamada figures are now available!
Whatever the video game may leave to be desired, the Marvel Disney Infinity figures have a style and personality that makes them well worth their price-tag to me. That’s why I was pretty excited that the next pair of Marvel-themed figures was scheduled for release this week: the Disney Infinity Big Hero 6 Baymax & Hiro Hamada figures!
I learned my lesson that pre-ordering was unnecessary when I walked into Toys R Us in September and the store was loaded with each and every figure from the set, so I figured I could stroll into basically any store this week and snag the Disney Infinity Hiro and Baymax figurines.
Nope! The first Toys R Us and Walmart stores I visited hadn’t even stocked the new Big Hero 6 Disney Infinity figures, and it wasn’t until I visited Target that I ran across a full shelf of Baymax figures.
I have a pretty strong hunch that Hiro is not just that much more popular than Baymax. Instead, I suspect that the Hiro Hamada figure has been produced in smaller numbers, just like the Nick Fury and Iron Fist figures from the first wave. Depending on how big of a hit the Big Hero Six movie is, under-producing Hiro may (or may not) come back to bite Disney in the next few weeks.
The Disney Infinity Baymax and Hiro Big Hero 6 figures are now available for order online, and should be available for purchase from most brick and mortar stores as well. With Big Hero Six hitting movie theaters this week, it’s probable the sales are going to light up quickly for these figures, so make sure to grab them before they’re wiped out if you’re a budding Big Hero 6 fan.
Has anyone besides continued to be bitten by the Disney Infinity 2.0 bug? Will you be picking up the Disney Infinity Big Hero Six figures, or are you setting your sights on more traditional Big Hero 6 toys (or none at all)?
Marvel died the second disney touched it.
