You wouldn’t know it from the amount of news articles that ran anyway, but I was actually on vacation last week. Some items did slip through the cracks, though, and among them are some 4″ Avengers Age of Ultron figures two-packs. None of the figures are exactly “new”, and they’re exclusive to Toys R Us stores–but hey, they’ve got more than 5 points of articulation! That’s something, right…?
These four figures were first revealed by Hasbro at the New York Toy Fair 2015 in February, but they got lost in the hype of the half-a-billion Marvel Legends coming out this year, so a lot of collectors are really surprised when they come face-to-face with whole racks of these figures in their local Toys R Us store.
There are two exclusive Avengers AOU two-packs in the Marvel Universe, 3 3/4″ scale:
Avengers AOU 3 3/4″ Captain America and Black Widow Figures
The first of the two exclusive packs includes a Captain America and a Black Widow figure. The Avengers Black Widow 3 3/4″ action figure from the first movie was mildly difficult to find in stores and is totally wiped out by now, so it’s nice to see the figure updated with Tron highlights for an Age of Ultron release.
While I think many folks will be glad to see an updated Black Widow figure, I doubt there’s gonna be a mob clamoring for the Stealth Suit Captain America figure she’s packaged with.
This Steve Rogers figures sold poorly the first time out, is still available in many stores, and isn’t even in his AOU costume. It also doesn’t help that this Captain America figure come with the ludicrously stupid suction cup-launching missile launcher that it was originally packed with. Oy. Definitely the weakest figure in this series. Sorry, Steve!
Toys R Us Exclusive Iron Man Mark 43 and Nick Fury Figures
Meanwhile, Nick Fury isn’t released with near the frequency of the other various Avengers, so collectors who missed his previous release may be happy to have another shot at him as well.
This is easily the stronger of the pair of TRU exclusive Avengers two-packs, in my opinion.
These two-packs are priced at $22.99 at my local Toys R Us stores, but I’ve heard that they may be a buck or two cheaper at some stores (though not mine, that’s for sure). My stores have loads of both sets available, so if you want these, they should be pretty simple to snap up for a while.
Now that they’re out in the wild, who’s planning to (or already has) picked up the most articulated Avengers Age of Ultron figures in the Marvel Universe scale? Are you happy to see this style of figure available in this form again, or would you prefer no new super-articulated movie figures at all to mere repaints like these?
Finally!! Black Widow is included! Will pick up the BW/Cap set!
Just shows how cool it would be if we had gotten, Ultron (various forms) Ultron Drones, Vision, War Machine, Scarlett Witch, Quicksilver and Hulkbuster armour with devent articulation, we can live in hope of more exlclusives like this.
I just want to have Vision holding Thor’s Hammer LOL
I Was hoping for more exclusives
I didn’t appreciate paying $20 plus to get a Black Widow figure with neon blue highlights (very unstealthy IMO) and another crap Cap, but what are you gonna do?
