The Funko juggernaut can’t be stopped, and today Funko officially opened pre-orders and sent out the first images of the fully-painted Spider-Man and Electro Amazing Spider-Man 2 POP Vinyls figures! While I don’t think this duo of POP! Vinyls figures can compete with the coolness of the Guardians of the Galaxy and Winter Soldier vinyl figures we’ve seen prototypes of the past few days, I figure at least one of these two figures is a “must buy” (and I imagine you all can guess which one)…
The Funko POP! Vinyls Electro actually looks far more authentic and detailed than the Hasbro 3 3/4″ Electro action figure I discussed earlier today (which is kind of sad when you think about it). Does anyone not think that we’re going to get a Glow-In-The-Dark Electro POP Vinyls figure as a Funko SDCC 2014 exclusive?
The new movie Amazing Spider-Man POP Vinyl figure, however, I was… less… impressed with. In fact, I let out an audible groan when I first saw the Amazing Spider-Man 2 Funko POP Vinyls Spider-Man figure, as I thought it looked downright awful.
I wasn’t a fan of the gold-eyed Amazing Spider-Man POP Vinyl for the first movie, but I felt like this one looked way worse with his larger, mascara-like black eyeliner. That said, the response to this new version has been pretty positive. I’ll try to reserve final judgment on this Funko Amazing Spider-Man 2 Spidey figure until I see it in person, but as of now he looks really wrong to me.
The Funko Amazing Spider-Man 2 POP! Vinyls figures are now available for order, and are expected to be released in April 2014. I went ahead and ordered an Electro myself, and I’ll maybe think about Spider-Man when I get a chance to see him in person and determine if his make-up problem on his eyes will bug me as much as it does on the prototype.
So there you have it, Marvel fans! The last of the expected (non-exclusive) Funko Marvel Movie POP Vinyls figures for 2014! Will you be adding Electro and Spider-Man to your desk or shelf, or do you have your sights set on different POP! Vinyls this year (or maybe none at all)?
