We had heard during the very early part of 2015 that Funko was planning to release Daredevil POP Vinyls to capitalize on the popularity of the Netflix Daredevil series. Even so, we head zippo about the figures afterwards, and when the comic-based Daredevil POPs came out, I sort of figured that was that. But I guess better late than never–a full series of Funko Daredevil Netflix POP Vinyls is now up for order!
But it looks like Funko’s onslaught of new product reveals knows no seasons, and out of nowhere they’ve now revealed a whole subset of POP Vinyl Daredevil Netflix series figures, as well as a Pocket POP Daredevil keychain!
The four figures that make up the Daredevil POP! Vinyl sub-series are:
- Daredevil (Red Costume) — Marvel POP Vinyl #120
- Daredevil (Masked Vigilante Black Costume) — Marvel POP Vinyl #119
- Matt Murdock — Marvel POP Vinyl #121
- Wilson Fisk — Marvel POP Vinyl #122
In addition, there’s this miniature Daredevil Pocket POP! Keychain. Don’t be fooled by its itty-bitty size–this lil’ Daredevil figurine is still a bobble-head, believe it or not!
Ordinarily I would think that a character like Wilson Fisk (AKA The Kingpin) would sell poorly in a mainstream toy line such as this one, but Vincent D’Onofrio has been so popular in the role that I actually think that this may end up being the most popular Kingpin figure ever produced!
I’m kinda bummed that there’s no vinyl figure of the ever-entertaining Foggy Nelson on the way, but seeing as no company has ever released a toy of ol’ Foggy, I guess I’m not too surprised! Even so, I do wish we got a little more character diversity in this line. Four figures and three are variants of the main character? What is this, The Hunger Games?
However, I must admit that it is pretty cool to get what I believe is the first ever civilian Matt Murdock figure to be released by a toy company. The Charlie Cox POP Vinyl is definitely my “must-buy” from this wave!
Pre-orders for the Netflix Daredevil Funko POP Vinyls figures are now available with an expected late winter arrival date for the figures. At this time, these are the only announced toys for the series, so I suspect that there are going to be quite a few fans waiting to throw their money as the pre-orders for this set.
What do you think of Funko delving into the Netflix Marvel TV universe, collectors? Are all of your “must-haves” captured in this series, or are there characters you were hoping for that didn’t make the cut?
