After starring in one of the most reviled Marvel movies over a decade ago (hey, I like Ben Affleck), the beloved Marvel character Daredevil is getting another chance to capture non-comic readers’ hearts again this spring, when the Daredevil Netflix series is released! So the time is definitely right for Funko to release some Daredevil POP Vinyls, depicting Daredevil in both his original yellow and iconic red costumes. With this being a Funko product, you might think one of these figures would be an exclusive, but surprise–they’re both exclusives!

Considering his status as one of Marvel’s most long-running and classic characters–and his upcoming live-action series–you might think that Daredevil would be safe from only getting released as a limited, exclusive Funko POP! Vinyl figure.

But you would be wrong, as it was revealed overnight that–at least in Europe–the Daredevil Funko POP Vinyls will be exclusive to Forbidden Planet International (AKA Underground Toys). It’s unconfirmed where the Daredevil POPs will be exclusive to in the United States, but it’s certain that they’ll be an exclusive release (and it better not be to Walgreens) here as well.

On the one hand, it seems a little bizarre for such a major character as Daredevil to be an exclusive-only release. On the other hand, if a far more popular character like Venom can only get released as a store exclusive, it’s not too much of a plot twist that Daredevil would as well.

The pair of Daredevil Funko POP Vinyls are scheduled to be released in June 2015. Based on the Forbidden Planet’s order limits, it appears that the Funko Yellow Daredevil POP! Vinyl will be a much more limited release (not really shocking), as they’re limited him to two per customer (whereas the red Daredevil orders have no limits).

This is probably a smart move, as the Funko POP Vinyls red Daredevil figure is certain to be far more popular, whereas the yellow costume Daredevil Funko POP Vinyl will likely only appeal to completists (yes, they still exist) and die-hard Marvel fans.

I’ll post an update here and to the Marvel Toy News Facebook Page once the domestic release details for this must-have pair of Matt Murdock POP! Vinyls is confirmed. If I was a betting man, I’d say these are likely to be a new exclusive for Fugitive Toys (as this fits the pattern of their exclusives with a more limited variant–and Fugitive Toys hasn’t had a new Marvel exclusive since last fall), but I’ve also heard the rumor floating around that Red Daredevil may be a Hot Topic exclusive and yellow Daredevil may be a Target exclusive.
