If there’s one thing out there that adult collectors love, it’s nonsensical variants of main characters like Spider-Man and Batman (right…?). Funko already conquered Batman fans’ wallets with a double-digit number of Funko Hikari Batman vinyl figure variants, and now they’re preparing to unleash their fourth Funko Hikari Spider-Man! The colors don’t make much sense canonically, but he’s limited to just 500 pieces worldwide–the Funko Hikari Metal Mix Spider-Man figure is now up for order!
This time, we’re getting the 8″ super-sized Funko Metallic Mix Spider-Man Hikari, with brushed gold and silver paint deco. If Funko had gone silver and black this would be reminiscent of Spider-Armor Spider-Man, but instead, this looks more like a classy antique than any Spider-Man costume ever has.
Aside from being the most unique deco for a Hikari Spidey, this is also the most limited of the Spider-Man Funko Hikaris so far. While Dangerous Spider-Man had a decent edition size of 1000, the LE here is just half of that: 500! All of the most valuable Funko Hikari released have had edition sizes of 500 or less (so far), so it’s a good omen for the sales of Metal Mix Spidey that Funko has given him such a limited production run.
The Metallic Mix Spider-Man Funko Hikari figure should be up for order later today online, but with a limited edition size of just 500, I don’t expect it to stick around long. Keep your eyes open and be vigilant if this Hikari Metal Mix Spider-Man is on your wish list–this is going to be a fast sell-out with such a low run.
What do you think of Funko’s latest Spider-Man Hikari figure, vinyl fans? Does the cool aesthetic of metallic gold and silver Spidey win you over, or do you have no use for high-priced, made-up colorways like this one?
The entire Hikari line is waaaaaaaaay out of my price point. But I do like the figure.
It’s ugly!
$80 Turd.
LOL. I can feel the love for this piece, guys.
