From what I’ve heard, the Loki POP! Vinyl figure that is part of the Funko Thor: The Dark World POP! Vinyls series of figure bobble-heads is far and away the best seller in the bunch. This is hardly a shocker, as the previous POP! Vinyls Loki figures are outrageously expensive and hard-to-get on the aftermarket. What is a bit unexpected is that we’re getting a just-announced exclusive Funko Black and White Loki POP! Vinyl variant for next month’s Comikaze 2013!
Some of the Black & White Funko POP! Vinyl figures that have been released make perfect sense to me. A newsreel Captain America in black and white or a Spider-Man as he appeared in daily newspaper comic strips? Sure thing–it’s only logical to make Black & White variants of those characters. But a greyscale Loki figure based off a 2013 live-action film? That makes my spider-sense tingle in a bad way.
Don’t get me wrong–I’m going to buy this exclusive Loki Funko POP! Vinyls bobblehead anyway (in fact, I already ordered it), but I think Funko might have been better served with a metallic Loki variant or even a glow-in-the-dark Loki before this weird black & white Loki figure.
The Black & White Loki Funko POP! Vinyl figure is another exclusive for Stan Lee’s Comikaze convention that will take place November 1st to 3rd, 2013. If you’re not going to Comikaze (I know I’m sure not), Fugitive Toys is taking pre-orders for the Funko Loki Black and White variant vinyl figure on their website now, with a shipping date in the second week of November.
