Get ready for more fun times, Marvel Funko POP Vinyls collectors! Though the “official” release date isn’t until later this week, many Target stores have started to put out the Target exclusive Funko Battle Damaged Crossbones POP Vinyls figure! He’s already getting gobbled up and selling for $20 on the aftermarket, so check your stores religiously if you don’t wanna pay an inflated price for this slightly-battered nefarious villain…
But to my surprise, I hit the jackpot twice over: not only was the whole Star Wars 6″ Black Series Ahsoka wave in-store, but a lone Target exclusive Crossbones Battle-Damaged POP Vinyl figure was on the shelf as well!
The “official” release date for the Exclusive Target Civil War Crossbones Battle-Damaged POP Vinyls variant figure isn’t until April 7th, but I’d heard reports of disinterested employees stocking them in stores despite being before “street date”.
Considering I came up totally empty-handed in my attempts to track down the exclusive Target FN-2187 POP Vinyl (which is selling for more than I’m willing to pay on the aftermarket–hit me up if you have an extra you wanna sell for a fair price), I was pretty psyched when I unexpectedly spotted Battle-Damaged Crossbones on the shelf.
While I’ve seen photos of the Target Crossbones Funko POP being stocked with the POPs from other brands on their own endcap, there’s a special place for these in Target stores: a specific spot on the Civil War endcap at the end of the action figure aisle, away from other Funko products and with the Captain America Civil War toys from other companies.
This is the second of the two Funko a POP Crossbones exclusives, as the (gross-looking) Barnes and Noble Unmasked Crossbones Civil War figure shipped out in March.
It’s worth nothing that each of the three versions of Crossbones has a unique number designation, as all three figures have a unique head sculpt. The mass-release Crossbones is Marvel POP #134, with the Unmasked Crossbones being #139 and the Battle-Damaged Crossbones at #140. As such, those who want to have a complete set of unique-numbered Marvel POP Vinyls will need all three variants.
While obviously not as cool as the Hot Topic exclusive Falcon figure, this is definitely my favorite version of Crossbones released in POP! Vinyl form. The Battle Damage helmet is just the coolest, in my opinion.
Have you spotted Target’s spring exclusive Marvel POP Vinyls figure yet, Marvel collectors? Which version(s) of Crossbones–if any–are you planning on adding to your collection?
