Gamestop Exclusive Marvel Legends Outback Hulk Figure Up for Order!

With arguably the biggest Hasbro event of the entire year just days away, I didn’t anticipate we’d be seeing anything new up for pre-order in the next few days. But hey–what do I know, right?! And so, Hasbro officially announced and began allowing pre-orders today for the latest GameStop Exclusive: the GamerVerse Marvel Legends Outback Hulk figure is now available exclusively in bundles with the upcoming PS4/Xbox One Avengers game! I was planning on a different version of the video game, so looks like I’m double-dipping…

Playstation 4 Avengers Video Game with Outback Hulk Figure Bundle

Okay, so while some of the wacky stuff that has come out this year in the Marvel Legends lineup like White Rabbit and Squirrel Girl were kooky character choices for fans of niche characters, today Hasbro has revealed a figure that I think absolutely no one (who wasn’t privy to leaked information) could have seen coming: an “Outback Hulk” from the new Square-Enix Avengers game!

That’s right–time to cancel those existing pre-orders of other editions from different stores, because this 8.5″ ML Outback Hulk is only available as part of a GameStop bundle with the video game! Bundles with the PS4 Avengers game and the XBox One Avengers game are both available now.

Exclusive Marvel Legends Outback Hulk Figure Packaged

This type of action figure promotion bundle isn’t entirely unheard of, as there was a Black Series Purge Stormtrooper figure bundled with the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Game last year, but it’s definitely a first for the Hasbro Marvel Legends history books.

Gamestop Exclusive Black Series Purge Stormtrooper

Although leftovers of that Purge Stormtrooper were available in limited quantities after the game launched at some GameStop stores, the figure still sells for around 60 bucks on the aftermarket–so waiting around for an unbundled Outback Hulk that may or may not ever come doesn’t really seem like a winning stratagem.

2020 Marvel Legends Hulk Outback Exclusive Figure with War Paint

As for the figure itself, well–it’s basically a reuse of most of the tooling from the recent Legends Hulk figure, but with grey skin, tribal war paint, add-on bandages and new bearded heads. This looks to be loosely based off the House of M Hulk design. I had no idea this costume skin was even in the game and can’t find it documented in any videos or screenshots, so how accurate the toy is is anybody’s guess.

Marvel Legends GamerVerse Outback Hulk Figure

At a glance, I think this is a really bizarre variation of Hulk–but without having had a chance to play the Square-Enix Avengers game and fall in love with it, I’m not willing to risk missing out on a GamerVerse figure that I might end up being gaga for later on this year. At the absolute worst, I expect this figure to being selling for above retail cost once it launches, so there’s not much to lose.

Outback Hulk Marvel Legends Box Back

The GameStop Outback Hulk Marvel Legends bundles with the Avengers game are up for pre-order now, and will be shipping out on 9/4/2020 (not coincidentally, my birthday!). Even raising the cost of the game 30 bucks and taking into consideration that this is a weird variant, I still think this figure is going to be a hit and end up pricey on the aftermarket. I’m happy to lock mine in now–and if I decide I don’t want it later, I’ll just sell it.

Thoughts on one of the strangest Marvel Legends Hulk exclusives ever, Marvel collectors? Anyone opting for this bundle instead of a different version you had planned on? And was anyone not planning to get the Avengers game at all, but change their minds after seeing this wild Hulk?

  1. While I’m not interested in this figure at the moment (the game might just change that), I see a lot of potential for customization even though it probably doesn’t make the most sense given the price tag.

  2. I long for the day face-pubes fall back out of fashion so I can stop looking at freaking beards every time I open my eyes. GD beards suck.

      • Yeah I haven’t been waking up every single day and dragging a piece of metal across my face for the past 32 years because I’m incapable of growing thick enough facial hair to have a 5 o’clock shadow just 7 1/2 hours into my day or anything. Certain the ability to grow facial hair makes one automatically fond of looking like a homeless person instead being clean shaven like a civilized person. Please, by all means, keep releasing bearded versions of Marvel characters. Because we all need a Colossus that looks like an alley dwelling wino.

        • I had no idea that having a beard automatically made one look homeless and not like, say, a regular person who happens to like the way they look without having to wake up early every morning and drag a sharp piece of metal across their face for no reason other than society decided that’s what they should do ages ago.
Take a chill pill, dude, it’s just an action figure.

          • Hate the word, but ”snowflake” comes to mind when i read OMGStahp`s comment… I like my beard, don`t care what some oversensitive jerk thinks…

    • Beards will never ”fall out of fashion”. Beards have always been cool. Those of us that can grow facial hair will do it.

  3. My take: it looks like a good action figure. Of something I know nothing about and have no interest in. I hope people that are interested in whoever or whatever this thing is will enjoy it thoroughly. By the looks of it, I think they will.

  4. For those living in Europe, note that over here the figure is available as a standalone. So, no need to buy a bundle, which suits me fine as I had no intention of buying the game (at least not right now at release price). I just pre-ordered mine from my usual UK store. It’s scheduled for April.

    • Really?! I can´t tell you how much of a relief it is to hear that! Imo, this looks really cool and every Hulk (and bigger figures, overall) that comes with fists and ”gesture” hands is a win…

  5. Congrats, Gamestop. You’ve priced me out of your Marvel Legends with the new increase to $29.99!! The old 3-dollar mark-up was an acceptable trade-off for the gas prices incurred with local hunting, or time spent looking online. I used to order MLs from the Gamestop in the mall where I work. But now? Absolutely ridiculous!

    • In Spain the prices for any Marvel Legends is almost always around 29,99€, sometimes 24.99€ and in some re-releases, 21,99€. I mean, the prices are totally ridiculous here. The only way of buying now a days is having a lot of patience looking for figures at ebay or sales in amazon. I am starting to think about giving up mass collecting.

        • In Sweden they regularly go for about 350kr, which is about 35 dollars (give or take, depending on in/deflation) and online is pretty much the only way you can get them….🤷‍♂️ (And all our Gamestops are closing down, not that we got any of the GS exclusives, but still)
