Considering that Hot Toys released three Captain America sixth scale figures last year, another the year before that, two more the year before that, and one way back in 2011, you might think that fandom would be less than excited about yet another Hot Toys Captain America figure in the 2015 pipeline. But in actuality, Hot Toys collectors are psyched for the next Cap, as it looks like it very well may end up being the best one ever: the Hot Toys Avengers Age of Ultron Captain America figure is now up for order!
Ever since, fans have been waiting impatiently to see who the next figure to go up for order would be. And while a teaser photo of the Hot Toys Ultron himself made some believe it would be Ultron, it actually turns out that the first 2015 Hot Toys Marvel to go up for sale is Age of Ultron Captain America!
Yet another Captain America Hot Toys MMS figure going up for order sound like it would be pretty groan-inducing. Luckily, Captain America’s outfit has had some major cosmetic revisions between the first Avengers movie and Avengers 2, and as a result, MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) Captain America looks better than ever!
The biggest innovation for this new Avengers: Age of Ultron Hot Toys Captain America sixth scale is that he will be the very first sixth-scale Captain America to include a die-cast, magnetic shield (for that matter, I can’t remember any Captain America in any scale including a magnetic Captain America shield before).
The magnets in the shield will allow it to connect to Captain America’s forearm, handle-free, although the shield will also still have a retractable handle built into it, so you’ll be able to display the shield in Cap’s hand normally as well.
Hot Toys has announced the official U.S. price for this Captain America Avengers Age of Ultron sixth scale figure to be $224.99. That’s still the most expensive Captain America Hot Toys figure released to date, but with all of the accessories included–especially the die-cast Captain America shield and extra unmasked head–I honestly don’t have any issues with the modest $5 price increase over last year’s Stealth Captain America.
But that’s not all! The MMS281 Hot Toys Captain America Age of Ultron figure will also include eight interchangeable hands, an extra helmet for Cap to carry around (or discard on the battlefield), an Age of Ultron Hot Toys figure stand (which can be interlocked with those of the other figures in the series), and best of all–an alternate Steve Rogers portrait!
The last few Hot Toys Captain America figures released individually haven’t included an unmasked head sculpt, so it’s great to get the option of displaying Cap with or without his mask on with this year’s Age of Ultron Captain America 1/6th scale figure.
The Hot Toys Avengers Age of Ultron Captain America is now available for order on Sideshow Collectibles, with a scheduled release date of September-November 2015. I love this figure and I’m taking no chances with it, so I went ahead and ordered instantly as soon as I saw this pop up for sale on Sideshow’s site. The very fair price that they’re charging for him also helped contribute to my instant buy, of course.
Now that Hot Toys has shown off official, hi-res photos of the Avengers 2 Hot Toys Captain America figure in all its glory, what do you think, Marvel collectors? Will this become the default (or only) Captain America in your Hot Toys display, or are you sticking with an older model of Cap?
Quality work. Looks great. The 80’s snow “moon” boots are growing on me… Caps a soldier, he needs some sort of SHIELD /Stark tactical boot. The new magnetic shield doesnt warrant a price hike. I apologize for my rant-review!
And the price we have to pay… the figure should include more than 8 hands! How about alternate heads, boots, clothing, gear /weapons and most importantly a character specific detailed base. Nothing fancy, just not the bare minimum.
Even though I’ve always hated the idea of Chis Evans as Captain America, I will be ordering two of these!!! Wasn’t impressed with early photos. Blown away now! Hope other AoU releases don’t let me down.
“Wait, display? I thought people are supposed to play with action figures?” Rookies, lol. Man, this one looks fantastic! Still like the Golden Age Suit from Winter Soldier better, but this could possibly tie or even top that figure once I acquire it in person. Can’t wait to put it next to my already growing collection of Steve Roger figures!
I feel lucky that i waited for this. This will be my first Cap. The dealers at my area (Malaysia) stated that it will be around RM680.
680 Ringgits. It’s gona be more than that here in the US.
For comparison the strike cap was RM650 and the Cap/rogers pack was RM1050.
I cannot wait, I ordered the Iron Man last month to start my hot toys collection. This is a must have to keep it going and I can’t wait to see what the sideshow exclusive is going to be!
WOW!!!!! Spectacular, amazing. GREAT!!!!
