The low quality of villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies has almost become a bit of a running joke among fans, but that trend was unquestionably shattered by the villain of the recent Black Panther movie: Erik Killmonger. Viewers immediately fell in love with Michael B. Jordan’s portrayal of the character, and now collectors can own the first-ever high-end collectible of him: the Hot Toys Erik Killmonger figure is now up for order!
I was already smitten with the outstanding 6” Marvel Legends Killmonger Figure that I reviewed last month, but after seeing the movie I knew a potential Hot Toys Killmonger MMS would be a must-have for me.
And as fate would have it, after being teased in the Black Panther 1/6 figure’s photos, Hot Toys finally fully unveiled and put their Erik Killmonger 1/6 figure up for order today! I had high hopes for how this figure was going to look, but I can genuinely say that the work Hot Toys did here exceeds all of my expectations.
I think the amazing coolness of this figure pretty much speaks for itself in the official photos. The Golden Jaguar costume’s gold accents is some of the most incredible-looking detailing that I’ve ever seen on a Hot Toys figure—which is saying a lot given the general stellar quality of Hot Toys.
The 1/6 Killmonger body is newly-developed and looks ideal for the character’s body type as seen in the movie, and the texture and details on the mask are perfection.
In addition to the Killmonger unmasked head, the figure will also include a sword and spear (which look wicked cool), as well as eight interchangeable hands and the usual figure stand display base (this time with display background).
The Hot Toys Killmonger figure is now up for order, and is scheduled to be released in Q2/Q3 2018. Considering all we’re getting with this figure (including an all-new body mold), I’m really pleased with the relatively low $235 price-tag on this Killmonger sixth scale figure. The only bummer is having to wait likely half a year until he arrives!
Now that hes been fully revealed and put up for sale, what’s your snap judgments on the Erik Killmonger Hot Toys figure, Marvel collectors? Will this rare MCU villain release in the Hot Toys Marvel lineup be joining your collection, or did Killmonger not leave enough of an impression on you to earn your $230+?
Given Hot Toys’ track record with actually producing villains, the odds of the “Tactical” Killmonger being produced are about zero, yes?
I guess we’ll just have to stick with the Minimate…
Absolutely loved this character. This is a must buy.
