If you’re a Hot Toys collector that’s missing one Marvel Cinematic Universe character that you just haven’t been able to afford, then the Avenger you’re most likely lacking is Hawkeye. The Hot Toys Avengers Hawkeye figure was the first of the Avengers movie figures to go up for sale, and the demand turned out to be far greater than the quantity produced. Hawkeye has been out of reach for many collectors–but no longer: the Avengers Age of Ultron Hot Toys Hawkeye figure is now up for order!

Of all the members of the Avengers, Hawkeye is the sole member who has only had a single release. Hot Toys Black Widow has had four figures, Hot Toys Hulk has been released in four ways, Captain America and Thor have had a variety of figures, and I can’t even count the number of Hot Toys Iron Man figures at this point.

But poor, poor Hawkeye has only had one Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series figure to call his own. Until now.

Because the original Avengers Hot Toys Hawkeye sixth scale figure (shown above) went up for sale before any of the other members of the team (and before the movie’s release), the figure ended up being under-ordered and also underproduced when the Avengers movie came out and became a blockbuster.

So by the time the first Hawkeye Hot Toys MMS figure shipped out, it was already sold out at retailers and quickly skyrocketed in price on the aftermarket as the rest of the team was released.

But not every collector can afford the $500-$600 that that MMS172 Hawkeye costs on the aftermarket these days, so Hot Toys Marvel collectors were overjoyed when it was confirmed in December 2014 that a new Hot Toys Age of Ultron Hawkeye 1/6 figure was on the way!

I thought that the Hot Toys MMS289 Hawkeye figure looked great when it debuted in the winter at the Toy Soul event, and the figure remains unchanged for the finished photos.

Not everyone is going to be in love with the non-classic long, sleeved vest outfit on this figure, but I think it will grow on folks when they see this costume in action in the movie.

And because of the fact that sleeves are covering Hawkeye’s arms, Hot Toys went the extra mile and included double-jointed elbows on the figure, meaning that Hawkeye can reach over his shoulder to grab arrows from his quiver without showing ugly visible joints!

While Hot Toys has cheaped out a bit and reused old heads for previous Avengers Age of Ultron Hot Toys figures like Black Widow and Captain America, they took the high road with Hawkeye.

While the original Hawkeye MMS had a terrible Jeremy Renner likeness, this new-and-improved portrait is far closer. Renner’s brow may be a little off in the sculpt, but it may also be based off of a focused or intense expression Hawkeye has in Age of Ultron. Regardless, this head is definitely a marked improvement over the original.

In one of the trailers for the Avengers Age of Ultron movie, we saw what looked like some sort of claw-like appendage on Hawkeye’s hand. Some fans were hoping for Clint Barton with Wolverine claws, but it turns out to be some sort of “speed loader” extendable arrow gadget as seen in the official photos.

As he should be, the Hot Toys MMS 289 Hawkeye sixth scale figure is packed up with accessories. He includes an opened-up purple and black bow, a folded bow, a purple and black quiver, six pairs of interchangeable hands, a pair of arrow speed loaders with nine speed loader arrows, thirteen individuals arrows and nine interchangeable arrow heads.

And for those who prefer the glasses look, Hawkeye will also include a pair of sunglasses, although none of the official photos show Clint wearing them. …Whew! That’s a lot of accessories! 

The Hot Toys Avengers Age of Ultron figure is now up for order on the Sideshow Collectibles website, and is expected to be released in Q3/Q4 2015. While Hawkeye is traditionally the least popular of the core six movie Avengers, I have a feeling this Hot Toys AOU Hawkeye is going to sell like wildfire due to the team-completing pent-up demand for the character.
