From the moment Marvel movie fans saw the first concept artwork of Hulkbuster Iron Man from hthe Avengers: Age of Ultron movie, the Hulkbuster has had more buzz and excitement surrounding it than any other character in the film (including Vision, Scarlet Witch and even Ultron himself). And now, Tony Stark’s mightiest creation is coming to the most popular high-end line of Marvel collectibles: the MMS 285 Hot Toys Hulkbuster Iron Man is now up for order!
MMS 285 Hulkbuster Iron Man will stand an immense 21″ (55 cm) tall. That’s 3″ taller than the next largest Hot Toys figure, and 9″ taller than your standard Hot Toys Iron Man figure–so yes, Hulkbuster Iron Man will be suitably towering over all his friends (and enemies)!
As we’ve come to expect from Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series figures, the Hulkbuster Iron Man Hot Toys will come with plenty of electronic LED lights as a feature. In fact, MMS285 is loaded with sixteen different lights! That’s a lot of LEDs!
One of the coolest features of the Hot Toys Hulk Buster Iron Man sixth scale figure is that you can open up its chest armor, revealing the bust of the included Iron Man Mark XLIII bust inside! (And yes, the interior Iron Man Mark 43 bust will have its own LED light-up eyes and ARC chest reactor, of course.)
Finally, for anyone who was concerned that Hot Toys might skimp on the articulation and make the Hulkbuster Iron Man MMS some sort of semi-articulated rotocast figure, fear not: Hulkbuster Iron Man features 30 points of articulation (which is a huge number for such a bulky design), including articulated fingers for making fists or grappling with the Hulk.
With all that articulation built in, I don’t imagine that there will be many poses Hulkbuster Iron Man strikes in the movie that this Hot Toys 1/6 Hulkbuster Iron Man figure won’t be able to replicate.
Now comes the truly terrifying thing about the Hulkbuster Hot Toys figure: the price. We won’t know the official US price-point for Hot a Toys Hulk Buster Iron Man until Sideshow puts him up for sale this week, but we do know that the Hong Kong cost is $5100 HKD.
That equates to around $658 US, but with Sideshow’s markup for import costs, we’re looking at a potential $700-$800 for the MMS285 Hot Toys Hulk Buster. Yikes. That’s less than the $1000 price-tag I was dreading, but still enough that I’ll be using a long-term payment plan on this figure.
The Hot Toys MMS285 Hulkbuster Iron Man is now available for order on the Sideshow Collectibles website, with an expected arrival date of Q1/Q2 2016. Yes, we’re going to have to wait a year or a bit more for this monstrous masterpiece–but I’m okay with that. It gives me longer to spread out my FLEXPay payments at Sideshow.
Who’s in for the largest and most expensive Marvel Hot Toys figure ever made? Are you trembling in fear of the cost and shelf space this beast will devour, or are you pumped to add Hot Toys Hulkbuster Iron Man to your collection?
