When I first heard about the Hot Toys Rose Hill Tony Stark figure a week or so ago–no lie–I thought it was a joke. No, seriously–I thought it was a joke. I thought someone had photoshopped some teaser photos of the existing Tony Stark Hot Toys figure wearing a cowboy hat, and was trying to pass it off as a real upcoming figure. I was mistaken. Officially announced and coming in 2014–the Rose Hill Tony Stark Hot Toys Iron Man 3 sixth scale figure!
That said, I am not a fan of this “Cowboy Tony Stark” Hot Toys sixth scale figure. People have been whining about the number of Hot Toys Iron Man 3 MMS releases, so I feel like Hot Toys contrived this new Tony Stark Rose Hill MMS figure just to spite those nay-sayers. The sheer number of Hot Toys Iron Man 3 figures released is getting a little out of hand, and while I’ve got no problem with the multitude of Iron Man armors being released for the movie, a third Tony Stark Iron Man 3 Hot Toys figure is just getting silly.
Fans have been asking for a Hot Toys Racing Suit Tony Stark 1/6th scale figure from Iron Man 2 for years to no avail, but instead we get a figure of Tony Stark from the reviled scenes shot in Rose Hill, North Carolina? Oy.
Hot Toys probably made a good decision when they decided to make this Hot Toys Cowboy Tony Stark sixth scale figure a limited exclusive, as this is almost definitely going to be the least-desirable figure they release from the Iron Man 3 film.
In isolation this 1/6 Rose Hill Tony Stark figure might not be all that complained about, but when he’s the third $200-$280 Tony Stark sixth scale figure to be released within a time frame of a year, this poor western-clad Tony Stark figure never had a chance. The clothes designed for this Tony Stark Movie Masterpiece Series figure actually look quite nice (for what they are), but it really doesn’t help that this is the attire Tony Stark wears in scenes that are almost universally hated.
I kind of wouldn’t mind owning a real version of Tony’s stylin’ checkered shirt to wear around town, but I can live without having it on an expensive Tony Stark Hot Toys figure. It is worth nothing that this MILK Tony Stark Hot Toys exclusive figure will apparently be coming with the homemade wrist repulsor that was supposed to be exclusive to “The Mechanic” Tony Stark figure–I’m sure that’s going to further tick off plenty of collectors who ordered that figure for the “exclusive” accessory.
The MILK exclusive Hot Toys Rose Hill Tony Stark Movie Masterpiece Series 1/6 figure should be released in 2014. The pricing for this figure and whether or not it will be available in the United States is still unknown, but I’d be very surprised if Sideshow Collectibles didn’t get in some quantity of this figure to sell (how fast it will sell is another matter entirely).
Be honest, Marvel collectors–is anyone out there really, truly, excited for this exclusive Hot Toys Tony Stark Rose Hill sixth scale figure?
I,m not to thriled about the Rose Hill Tony Stark .I like many others thibk a Tony Stark from Iron man 2 in is racing suit would ROCK !!! Seeing I have have the exact Marvel replica racing jacket he wore in Monaco .
I love this figure i don’t know why everybody else hates it so much. To me i think it is cool hot-toys made this. You can buy it on ebay but your going to have to pay about $380 for him but i’m fine with that because collectors are going to wish they bought it when they had a chance because he is going up in value and already is rare enough as it is not being released us. Overall i plan to get him to add to my Hot-Toys collection.
