Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters this week, and while the hype is at a high, Hot Toys is ready to strike again and lock in more of your collecting dollars! After the huge success of the Guardians of the Galaxy Hot Toys Groot and Rocket Raccoon pre-orders, today Hot Toys is ready to move on to the closest thing to an actual human on the team–and after being inundated with the joke in trailers, I imagine you all know who this guy is! The Sideshow Exclusive Hot Toys Star-Lord figure is now up for order!
But now Star-Lord has truly hit the big-time, and the proof of his achievement will be his own Hot Toys Movie Masterpiece Series figure!
As the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy team and the most famous actor in the movie (that isn’t a CG-created anthropomorphic raccoon), it was crucial that Hot Toys do a good job on their Star-Lord figure to ensure that collectors will want to purchase the whole Hot Toys Guardians of the Galaxy team (as many fans would skip the team entirely if Star Lord didn’t come out well).
Hot Toys has thankfully made their MMS255 Star-Lord 1/6 figure look better than “good”, though–he looks superb! Star-Lord’s red “leather” jacket, mask with LED light-up eyes, and sling pack satchel bag all looks outstanding. As it should be for the price Hot Toys charges, this easily blows away every other Starlord action figure ever made by any company.
About the only complaint I have about poor Hot Toys Peter Quill is that his headphones should be orange, but Hot Toys has plenty of time to fix that oversight before the Guardians of the Galaxy Hot Toys Star Lord figure ships in 2015.
The Hot Toys Star-Lord sixth scale figure will feature a Chris Pratt head, but that hasn’t been approved yet by the licensor (Marvel), so it’s still blurred out in the photos. I would imagine that when Hot Toys displays Star-Lord at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 this week, it will be with the masked head and not the unapproved Chris Pratt head (though stranger things have happened).
I’m not particularly enthralled by the notion of getting the handcuff for my MMS 255 Hot Toys Star Lord figure, but I definitely want The Orb for recreating the first Guardians of the Galaxy trailer (and most trailers thereafter).
The Sideshow Exclusive Hot Toys Starlord figure is now for order at Sideshow Collectibles, and is expected to be released in Q1/Q2 2014. As Star-Lord does have a couple of key accessories that will only be available with the Sideshow Exclusive Edition, you obviously want to order him from Sideshow instead of another retailer if possible. I imagine the 1/6 Starlord Exclusive Edition will sell out months before the regular edition, so lock in if you want it.
Are you psyched for the first-ever high-end Star-Lord figure, Marvel collectors? Is this a day one pre-order for you, or are you waiting to see how much you like the Guardians of the Galaxy movie before you commit?
I would’ve liked an alternate shorter jacket as well.
Movie Star Lord looks good, but i would of like to see a alternate version released.
Tbh I never read much GotG before this year so I’m happy with this one but you never know, maybe Medicom will release a comic version in their RAH line seeing how they seem to have more of the comic figures. Btw Dabid did you get my email with the pics?
