The past several weeks have been some of the most monetarily brutal and unrelenting that I can remember as a Marvel collector, as we’ve been absolutely bombarded with new releases from low-end companies and expensive pre-orders from high-end companies for statues and sixth scale figures. Hot Toys evidently thinks that collectors still have some dough left to squeeze out, however, as they’ve now posted the pre-order for a Captain America The Winter Soldier Hot Toys Stealth Captain America & Steve Rogers figure set!

Man, Hot Toys is mighty anxious to take our money these days, aren’t they? After officially unveiling the Hot Toys Steve Rogers MMS 243 figure less than 24 hours ago, they already have the complete product details and glamor shots ready to go! I can’t complain too much, though, as I’m psyched to pre-order anything and everything Hot Toys puts out for the sure-to-be-amazing Captain America: The Winter Soldier film opening in theaters tomorrow!

This time, Hot Toys is going to double their money (literally) with a two-pack containing the MMS242 Hot Toys Captain America Stealth S.T.R.I.K.E. Suit figure and MMS 243 Hot Toys Steve Rogers figure!

The big selling-point of this set is is the fact that it will give us not only the first-ever civilian Steve Rogers Hot Toys figure, but also our first Hot Toys unmasked Chris Evans head sculpt since the first Captain America movie!

A straight-up comparison of a screenshot of Chris Evans from Captain America: The Winter Soldier and a photo of the Hot Toys Steve Rogers portrait demonstrates how fantastic a job Hot Toys sculptor Yulli has done on this Chris Evans head. I think this is unquestionably the best Captain America Chris Evans sculpt we’ve ever seen from any company.

To be honest, though, I think it’s a bit of a jerk move on Hot Toys’ part to only give us one unmasked Hot Toys Steve Rogers head with this set. Plenty of Captain America fans are going to want to display their Stealth STRIKE Suit Captain America Hot Toys 1/6 figure with the unmasked Chris Evans head, but in doing so, you’re left with a headless Steve Rogers Hot Toys figure (or worse, a dopey-looking Steve Rogers with masked Captain America head as a stand-in).

In all likelihood, the Hot Toys Steve Rogers sixth scale figure will be available exclusively as part of this set with the Hot Toys Stealth Captain America–and the set itself very well may end up being exclusive to the Sideshow Collectibles website in North America and not available through other online retailers. We’ll have to wait a while longer to find out for certain.

If nothing else, the “special edition” 1/6 Captain America Helmet also advertised as being included with the set should be a Sideshow Collectibles exclusive.

Aside from the exclusive Steve Rogers MMS243 figure, this set will also include a battle-damaged Captain America shield with the red paint almost totally peeled off. This particular Hot Toys Captain America shield will almost certainly not be available outside of this set, so if you’re collecting all of Cap’s shields, you’re definitely going to need to buy the MMS 242/243 two-pack.

The Hot Toys Stealth Captain America and Steve Rogers Movie Masterpiece Series figures set is now available on the Sideshow Collectibles website. As this set may be a Sideshow exclusive, it’s very possible that it will be a quick sellout (especially with The Winter Soldier coming out in the United States this weekend).
