I mentioned in my review of the Jubilee Bishoujo statue yesterday that there was a first time for everything. Well, I guess today it’s time for another first, because I’m going to be discussing something that can probably only be considered a “toy” at all by the barest of margins. The latest Marvel statues (of a sort) come from Rubie’s Costume Company–and they actually serve a functional purpose! The Rocket Raccoon, Thor and Venom Candy Bowl Holders are now up for order!
“And now for something totally different…”
I legitimately never thought that the day would come when I would be discussing Candy Bowl Holders on one of my websites (or at all, for that matter), but, well… here we are. Rubie’s Costume Company is pretty famous (as far as Halloween costume companies go), and they have some great adult costumes coming out this year including Cyclops, Deadpool and Wolverine.
I’m not about to discuss adult dress-up costumes here on Marvel Toy News right now (or ever), but Rubie’s Costumes also makes some Halloween accessories that I think actually will appeal to quite a few Marvel collectors: Candy Bowl Holders!
I never knew that I needed a candy bowl holder statue is my life until I saw that Rocket Raccoon Candy Bowl Holder, but now I stand corrected. Gnome-looking Thor sort of creeps me out, but the Venom with his tongue extended out into the candy bowl is absolutely hilarious. These are definitely some of the most unique Marvel toys (and when it comes right down to it, these are definitely toys of a sort) that I’ve seen in a while.
The MSRP of about $45 for each of these statues sounds a bit steep at a glance, but it becomes pretty understandable once you take into account that each of these three Marvel Candy Bowl Holders statues measures around 10″ x 10″ by 18″ and weighs over 5 pounds!
The Venom, Thor and Rocket Raccoon Candy Bowl Holders are now available for order, and are scheduled to be released in Spring 2015. The previously-released Captain America and Hulk Candy Bowl Holder statues both sold out already, and I find this new batch to be way cuter, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this series of Candy Bowl Holders ends up selling out much faster than the previous releases.
What do you think of these Marvel Rubies Costume Company Candy Bowl Holders, Marvel collectors? Is this the sort of thing that you want to have in your home or greeting kids with at Halloween, or does this type of collectible hold no appeal for you?
