I woke up this morning to some good news and some bad news. The good news was that the Marvel Legends Ant-Man Series had finally gone up for pre-order! The bad news was: the first place to open orders was the store I trust to fulfill my order the absolute least: Toys R Us online. But wait! Have patience, young grasshoppers, because dependable Ant-Man Legends figure reservations popped up this afternoon: Amazon now has the entire Marvel Legends Ant-Man Series with Ultron Prime Build-A-Figure available for order!
Luckily, I’m not going to have to deal with the “maybe” that is a Toys R Us pre-order, as Amazon has now put the whole wave up for pre-order themselves. While TRU is charging $2 less MSRP than Amazon, there’s three big advantages to ordering from Amazon: 1) You can cancel pre-orders whenever you want, unlike Toys R Us (which does not allow you to cancel); 2) Amazon doesn’t charge sales tax in most states; and 3) You’ll actually get your figures from Amazon. From Toys R Us? Who knows?
The Ant-Man Marvel Legends series consists of six figures (of which exactly one is from the actual Ant-Man movie), and you’ll need to buy all six figures to get the pieces necessary to build the large and impressive Marvel Legends Ultron Prime Build A Figure:
- Marvel Legends Ant-Man Figure with Ultron Prime Head
- Marvel Legends Wasp Figure with Ultron Prime Body
- Marvel Legends Giant-Man with Ultron Prime Right Leg
- Marvel Legends Grim Reaper with Ultron Prime Left Leg
- Marvel Legends Tigershark with Ultron Prime Right Arm
- Marvel Legends Bulldozer with Ultron Prime Left Arm
That’s right!! With the release of this series, the Marvel Legends Wrecking Crew that began way back in 2012 will finally be complete! HALLELUJAH!!!
And in fact, Hasbro has really gotten their head on straight with regards to the Marvel Legends Ant-Man case ratios. They’ve picked what’s almost certainly the best possible case-pack for this wave, which is as follows:
- (2) Ant-Man
- (2) Wasp
- (1) Tigershark
- (1) Giant-Man [Avengers Academy Costume]
- (1) Grim Reaper
- (1) Bulldozer
That’s right, Hasbro has learned from its previous mistakes with the Wasp and is actually double-packing the founding Avenger, Janet Van Dyne, at two-per-case. Thanks, Hasbro!
The big connection between all of the figures in this series is, of course, that they’re all related to the character of Ant-Man in some way. Scott Lang is the movie Ant-Man (obviously), the Wasp is the ex-wife of that wife-beating Hank Pym Ant-Man in the comics, Giant-Man is Hank Pym himself, and Grim Reaper, Tigershark and Bulldozer are all Avengers villains (and thus Ant-Man villains).
The entire Marvel Legends Ant-Man series is now available for order online, and is scheduled to ship out on July 1st. Ordinarily Amazon ends up shipping my Marvel Legends figures about a week before their supposed street date, but I’ve also had them not ship until the actual street date as well. Either way, I’m excited to have this entire series in-hand in just about one month from today!
Now that you’ve seen the hi-res photos of the packaged Ant-Man Legends figures, are you looking forward to this wave, Marvel fans? Are you planning to pre-order any (or all!) of the figures in the Ant-Man Infinite Series to build your own movie-based Ultron Prime Build-A-Figure?
I love the Giant Man one! It looks like it’s based on his appearance in Avengers Academy.
Do we know the case ratios for this wave?
2x Ant-Man
2x Wasp
1x Bulldoser
1x Grim Reaper
1x Tigershark
1x Giant Man
I think Ant-Man and Wasp are the two that are double packed.
Any word on when the Amazon Exclusive 4 pack will be released?
It should be released in late July/August, but it’s unknown if Amazon will put pre-orders up for the set early or if they’ll wait until the item is actually in-stock.
I’m going to take a patient stance and wait for the Hasbro shop to post the full wave. I’ve kicked myself for the last three waves for not just buying the case from them. The almost always offer 15-20% off and a case always goes for free shipping. The duplicates aren’t even a concern since they undercut their own MSRP anyway, its like buy 7 get 1 free. It may depend on the case ratio, but i’ll be patient… This time.
Aye. A lesson I’ve learned often. My knee-jerk reaction is one of emotions without intellect, and I just go crazy ordering these things. Had I WAITED,I could’ve gotten my Hellcat and Batroc for less than what I paid at Amazon!
“Patience is a virtue.” A most valuable weapon in this hobby as well as life.
I’m going to wait as well, capt. In store is best. I can use my rewards on top of a possible bogo sale etc.
Maybe I order a case too. That’s a good option. Thanks for the tip
I guess I’m lucky in the sense that TRU shipped me the X-Men set (Jubilee BAF) complete; but based on people’s posts, I might have been the exception.
Regardless, to get the 6 figures from TRU with free shipping for <$120? That's a good deal to me.
I’m pre-ordering Ant-Man and Giant Man. I might pick up Wasp in store or off Ebay once she drops in price.
Me encanta esta serie !! Personajes nuevos y muchos villanos !! Oooo amo a tigershark y me gusta una version digna de wasp me encanta !! Ahora lo proximo que le pido a hasbro es que no deje en el limbo a blade … nada mas jeje
I want to purchase
