It was exactly seven months and two days ago that Hasbro tried (successfully, in many cases) to buy Marvel movie fans’ love by unveiling the Amazon Exclusive Marvel Legends Avengers Age of Ultron 4-Pack at the New York Toy Fair 2015. Well, it’s been an arduous wait, but ahead of AOU arriving on Blu Ray, the Avengers Marvel Legends Box set is finally in-stock and shipping! And for those who can’t haven’t received their set yet and want to check out the in-hand photos of the figures, here you go…
But some folks have been luckier than I am, and out of the goodness of his heart (and after some obnoxious coaxing from me), faithful reader Justin E. was willing to take photos of the whole Avengers Legends set for us and give us his early impressions of it…
“They’re awesome. Thor is by far the best new Legend. Black Widow has the Maria Hill body and Hawkeye’s new color scheme works well. Even the Bruce Banner is well made. Overall, the set is better than I thought it would be.”
“The only disappointment I have with the Black Widow. Her balance is off and the brightness of her face is too radiant for the darker color used on her body.”
[Her poor baton looks to be bent in a really unfortunate way, too.]
“Thor’s scale to the Hulk Legend is perfect. Just shorter than him; think of their scene in The Avengers when he knocks him over. He has an entirely new facial sculpt and body. Definitely captures his Avengers: Age of Ultron features. “
[Wow, this Thor really does look terrific. I might like this more than the Marvel Select AOU Thor. What do you guys think?]
“Hawkeye is a complete repaint of the Walmart The Avengers movie figure, with a darker color scheme which works well. Having a full quiver is a great addition. Having both versions allows me to switch heads, which is nice because I prefer the one 2012 head with the sunglasses.”
[Did Hawkeye ever actually wear his super-hip glasses in the Avengers Age of Ultron movie? I wish he had, but I can’t actually remember that occurring…]
“Lastly, the Bruce Banner Legend feels all new, but he reuses the Phil Coulson body with a new upper torso/shirt. His facial sculpt complements Mark Ruffalo and his Hulk features too.”
[It took me a minute to realize that Justin had posed Banner to be fidgeting with his hands and not flexing his muscles in a Hulk Hogan pose. Heh.]
The Hasbro 6″ Marvel Legends Age of Ultron set is now in-stock and ready to order, and should be shipping out within 24 hours to buyers at this point. This set seems to have been massively popular with collectors, so I don’t expect it to be discounted anytime soon.
Now that you’ve seen photos of the finished action figures, what do you think of the Avengers Age of Ultron exclusive set, Marvel collectors? If you pre-ordered the set, are you glad you did? And if not, does seeing the final product make you want to pick it up?
Hawkeye wore hus super hip sunflasses at the very end when they all went their seperate ways.
Mine came in yesterday morning. Package is slightly crumpled on bottom, which is annoying because it shows poor handling on Amazon’s part (again), but not an issue since I am not going to resell it.
I love Thor’s size, but dislike the head. His face looks like he’s stoned, and the hair on my figure is crooked. I’m going to switch out Widow’s head with one of hers from the Mandroid BAF wave cos this head is too sad looking. She looks like she wants to cry.
I wish Hawkeye was scultped with the skirt outfit he wore in the beginning of the movie. It’s a nice toy as is, but I like that look more, it is close to his old comic version, which I love. This figure looks naked to me, you know? Like he’s missing something. Could just be the sunglasses, but I feel like he’d look better with something on his arms.
I mainly bought this for Bruce. He looks awesome. I love toys that look like the actor they are based on and I have a soft spot for action figures in regular clothes.
