Hasbro has gotten Marvel Legends collectors pretty well-trained at this point to expect new reveals and announcements from their scheduled Hasbro Pulse Marvel Fan First livestreams. So of course, now that they’ve got us all conditioned, they go and throw us a major curveball with a surprise Instagram Live session instead, revealing numerous new long-awaited Marvel action figures: Marvel Legends Firelord, Retro War Machine, Japanese Spider-Man, Disney+ Sharon Carter and more are now up for order!

There was a surprising number of new reveals in yesterday’s livestream, so I’ll split up the new items shown off into two posts, with the exclusives discussed in the next post and the wider-released items featured here.
Bear in mind that even if they technically aren’t retailer exclusives, chains like Target and Walmart do skip a lot of the “one-off” releases such as all of these.
The “main event”, so to speak, of today’s pre-orders has got to be considered the Retro Fantastic Four Marvel Legends Firelord figure. Fans have been demanding this fiery Herald of Galactus for years, and there was quite a bit of complaining and animosity when he wasn’t added as a stretch goal pack-in for the Haslab Galactus figure’s campaign last year.
While I’m not convinced that the Sunfire body mold has an appropriate stature for the intimidating Firelord, I am pleased to see Hasbro is giving him a body with butterfly swivel shoulders so he can flexibly pose with his signature flaming staff. This is a figure I think strongly benefits from the Toybiz-style vintage packaging, too, as I have vivid memories of Toybiz Firelord warming KB Toys’ shelves for years.
And speaking of Toybiz Retro packaging, we’ll also be getting a 90s packaged Iron Man Retro figure for the first time in War Machine. Considering the first-ever toy of the now world famous character was in the packaging homaged here, this is another case where I think Hasbro made a perfect choice with including this version of the character in this vintage packaging.
This is 90s era “slim” War Machine with limited artillery beyond his shoulder cannon, and I think this nostalgic action figure matches the animated aesthetic personally. This is different enough from the recent Deluxe War Machine figure that I feel pretty excited for it.
I’m not as pumped about the Toei-styled Japanese Spider-Man Legends figure announced as the latest entry in the 60th Anniversary Collection, but that may be because I never watched the media for that version of the character.
The Funko Pop of this Spidey was more than enough for me, much less the SH Figuarts release that ended up clearanced. This is a neat inclusion in the line, but I don’t think it’s necessarily an iteration of Spidey fans will be as hyped for as they might have been a couple years ago. This figure will also have the new plastic window-less box packaging that appears to be universally hated by fans so far. Alas.
An MCU Sharon Carter Marvel Legends figure will finally debut in the What If? Infinity Ultron Series of Disney+ Legends figures. A live-action Sharon Carter ML action figure is so long overdue at this point that I honestly was shocked I don’t already own one.
I somehow doubt that there’s a fan alive who didn’t see the “Sharon is the Power Broker” twist coming, but I’m still pleased to finally get a much-needed MCU figure of her. Not sure how this figure will fare at retail, but it’s decent enough.
Rounding out the non-exclusive releases for today, we have an oversized Sentinel figure scaled to the Retro 3.75” line. The classic aesthetic looks really snazzy here, and the packaging for this figure looks downright awesome. I am not into the 5 points of articulation line even the slightest bit, but at about $25 this would be a MUST-have army-builder for me if I was. A home run pick by Hasbro to be sure. The blast effect and battle-damaged head are also top-notch accessories for this for sure.
All of these new Marvel Legends 2022 figures are now up for pre-order, although when they’ll actually arrive is a bit dubious given the current labor/resource shortages
And worldwide shipping delays. Hopefully these still arrive in a timely fashion, as I’m definitely ready for more new 6” Marvel figures at this point. You can use code SPRINGFREE22 for free shipping on pre-orders placed at EE.
Any of these new solicitations catch your attention, Marvel collectors? Do you like this style of impromptu Instagram event, or do you prefer the highly promoted and scheduled Hasbro Pulse Facebook events?
Immediately preordered the Emissary From Hell, SPIDER-MAN. That show was bonkers in the best possible way.
And I’ll definitely pick up that Sharon Carter down the line.
Wonder when these figs will go up for Amazon pre-order?
