Marvel Legends Magik & Thing Walgreens Exclusive Figures Released!

UPDATE 11/21/2018: Though the Marvel Legends Magik and Thing figures started appearing at some Walgreens stores almost two months ago, a lot of collectors have still been struggling to find them locally. But fear not, Illyana fans–you shan’t have to walk past the Walgreens cashier empty-handed anymore: the Exclusive Marvel Legends Magik figure is finally up for order online!

ORIGINAL 9/25/2018: X-Men Marvel Legends collectors got a bit of a shock at San Diego Comic Con 2018 in July, where it was announced that the next theme for Walgreens Exclusives would be X-Men characters, starting with a repaint of the formerly SDCC exclusive Magik figure. Fast-forward two months, and collectors are getting another stunner: Magik is already teleporting into stores now (and also onto eBay)! And Illyana hasn’t arrived in local Walgreens stores alone–the long overdue Marvel Legends Thing figure is also clobbering toy departments nationwide!

After Walgreens online briefly had the new Fantastic Four Legends Thing figure available last week, collectors were on the prowl for Ben Grimm at their local stores. And indeed, The Thing finally is arriving at retail and completing Marvel’s first family–but he’s also arriving alongside a totally unanticipated early arrival: X-Men Legends Magik!

After just being announced almost two months ago to the day at SDCC 2018, Illyana Rasputin’s first retail release ever by Hasbro is already hitting stores!

Marvel Legends Magik Walgreens Exclusive ReleasedThis figure is a repaint of the coveted SDCC 2015 Exclusive Book of Vishanti Magik figure, and was also the last character from that set that hadn’t reappeared at retail in some form since. While some folks may prefer the paint apps from the Book of Vishanti version, I think this Walgreens edition more than makes up for any paint deco shortcomings by coming with a ton of accessories!

X-Men Legends Magik Walgreens Exclusive Figure ReleasedAccording to reports from collectors all over social media, Marvel Legends Thing and Magik figures are appearing everywhere from California to Nevada to Georgia to Florida, so both figures are officially hitting from coast to coast now and should begin to quickly hit all Walgreens stores nationwide.

Very well designed! I haven’t put him on display yet with the other 3 members of the team but when I do I’m sure it’ll look… uh… Fantastic! These Marvel Legends figures really are 3D pieces of art.“

Marvel Legends Magik Figure ReleasedThe Walgreens Exclusive Marvel Legends Thing and Magik figures are both beginning to hit ebay in sizable numbers this week, but I’d urge all collectors to be patient and wait to find these figures at their local Walgreens stores. None of the Walgreens exclusives to-date have been rare at all in the long run, and there’s no reason to think that Magik or Thing are going to be exceptions to that rule. Take your time and please don’t feed the scalpers unless you absolutely cannot wait.

  2. The Thing was out at EBGames stores in Canada in August, but in very limited quantities. He looks great with the other members of the FF and poses well.
    Haven’t seen Magik yet, but I’ll be on the lookout tomorrow!
    Also, I got the Into the Spider-Verse Miles & Gwen 2-pack at Toys R Us last week, so I can only imagine it’ll be hitting stores elsewhere soon.

    • Won’t be hitting toys r us in the US. This makes me sad just remembering toys r us is no more in the US.

      • Yeah, I definitely feel spoiled still having one. They struggle with getting/replenishing waves of single-packed figures, but have ample stock of lots of the 2 and 3 packs. Unfortunately, Canadian pricing can be a little crazy sometimes (the MCU Thanos/Strange/Iron Man 3-pack is $150 here)

  3. Why do people buy multiple exclusives and make it harder for the rest of us. It is sad that people value money over collecting. We should all be trying to help each other and not trying to make a quick buck.

  4. Went to a few Walgreens in Orlando this evening, none in sight – of course, both still had a ton of yellow daredevil and black ant man on display.

    • well i just got off the phone with my third local (central Florida) Walgreens and got my third crappy response. apparently the employees don’t much care for answering toy questions, particularly when they are coming in from multiple people. each employee was rude and short, the last guy hanging up after stating “we don’t have any and we don’t know when we’ll be getting them! quit calling!”

      today was the first, and probably last time i’ll be attempting calling these stores rather than just visiting.

        • Wow. The Disney song is true. It is a small world. I work at the convention center too! (So much for my secret identity.lol) All I got from near the Orlando eye was the Surfer. There were 4. I texted a friend of mine who was looking for one too.
          He found Thing for me week later and I just got Magik yesterday at the store in front of universal resort on Kirkman.

  5. Already have the Book of the Vishanti box set and bought Thing mooonths ago from a Chinese eBay seller. Brick and mortar stores can suck it.

Apparently Lasership dropped off my thing package in the lobby of my building at 11:39 PM last night, of course no sign of the package this morning so I’m guessing somebody stole it in the middle of the night. Great. Making it worse is that earlier in the day, tracking indicated at 2:39 PM that the package wouldn’t be going out that day and that I shouldn’t expect it until the next business day (today), so I had assumed it wouldn’t be coming yesterday evening.

    Sorry, I know most people are interested in a sob story, just venting.

  10. How about the Silver Surfer? Anyone seeing that in any quantities in stores? I see he’s not available online (sold out there within seconds probably), and I haven’t seen anything sign of him in the 4 Walgreens stores in my area.

  12. I found Thing here in IL, today. My Walgreens had 3 to choose from. I bought the one that I thought looked best, and left the other two. I did not see Magik, though.

  13. Here in Philadelphia, the first Walgreens I stopped into had three Things and two Silver Surfers (no Magik). I grabbed two Things; one for me and one for my coworker who’s been slavering over it ever since the first promo pictures came out.

    The paint apps on the body seem to be different from figure to figure: They’re obviously going by the same paint-by-numbers “script,” but the actual applications of the darker wash on Ben’s mottled rocky hide are pretty divergent. (Also, just out of the package, the figure had a distinct and acrid chemical smell to him; it made me wonder if the painting was a last-minute rush job. Didn’t look like one, though.

    The only thing I don’t like is the “flare” of the wrist cuffs. They seem a bit more noticeably open and “gappy” from some angles, though that’s really only a close-up quibble. The way they’re constructed means the hands are more likely to pop off with handling.

    Overall, though, I really love this figure. The faces are especially expressive from all angles; just a great combination of sculpt and paint. Ben’s already on my desk proudly locked in combat with my old Toy Biz face-off Hulk.

    • Because if it’s a split case, I didn’t think about that, and I just left behind some Magik figures in the stockroom of Walgreens. They went back there to pull out a Thing for me. Shelves were empty, but they weren’t bothering to stock them with new product.

  18. The Walgreens in Covina, CA had a dozen Magik’s and four Things half an hour ago. Subtract two from each total.

  20. My local Walgreen had Things in the back. Were not going to put them out until room on the shelf, good grief.

  21. To far for me to get magik guess I’ll just to wait till she shows her face here on the east coast sometime soon. At least we know she’s coming

  22. I got my Magik figure last night! I LOVE HER! I read that she was showing up so I went around to 4 local ones. Of course, there were multiples of The Thing at all of them and I didn’t find Magik until the last store I was willing to go to. There were two and I actually giddy gasped when I saw her. She looks AMAZING and part of me wants to go back and get the other if she is still there.

  23. I walked into a nearby Walgreens today. They had 9 Things on display. I picked one up for the collection. Didn’t open it yet but it’s definitely a great looking figure with good weight to it.

  28. I don’t understand this at all. I’m going nuts over it. It’s says Magik is a Walgreens Exclusive, BUT i went on the Walgreens website and tried looking it up, tried many different searches, like: Marvel, marvel Legends, Magik, etc and nothing came up for this specific figure (though “The Thing” came up repeatedly). A;m i missing something here? Also, does Magik have the same release date as the Thing, or is she coming out later? If so, that would explain WHY she is not coming up on their website. Any information would be appreciated, along with links.

    • It’s walgreens system. Way back when the 1st exclusive agent Venom and Black series Proto Fett(white armour Boba Fett)came out,I found out from managers that the site only post new or heavily stocked toy product. This is why Queen Medusa is still listed even though she debuted months ago. The priorty goes to heavily stocked items and New items with only a few slots.(Which is why only Thing has a listing now) I experienced this Human Torch. I searched the site to get an idea of which stores to shop as he was listed,but I waited,and by the time I logged back in months later,he was not listed anymore.
      Your best bet is to use the upc listed above and call or walk in to the stores. Walk in is THE best option. I got 3 ProtoFetts that way(I’m an army bulider)not a scalper)
      Ask the manager in person to look up the upc,and they should be able to track what stores have the item.

  29. If you don’t have a Walgreens nearby, check out Rite Aid, they were bought by Walgreens and I found the Thing in two sites as part of their Christmas toy offerings. No Magik yet, but I have hope she’ll show up.

  30. I checked my Walgreens online and it said they have 10 in stock. I drove over there and they told me there was no way they were looking in the stockroom for it. Too much X-mas product coming in. Didn’t even glance to see if they could see a Marvel Legends case. So I went home and ordered that sucker. Other Walgreens in the area had some on hand when I looked from home, but by the time I went out searching my closest location (the one that refused to look) the online numbers had dropped to zero. I’m sure a scalper was hitting every store, buying them up. Sometimes I just want to stop trying to buy these things. It’s way more trouble than it’s worth. Alas. Addiction is hard to break.

  31. What is the most annoying thing anybody been through Hunting Marvel Legends Magik or Thing. I ask because there are 2 issues that’s been bugging me out!

    1. Store Availability: You can never trust the store availability, You might think it’s there but don’t risk it, i did like a idiot went out to 6 Walgreens from 7 am till 11 am they didn’t even bother to go look or said it’s in transmission they wanted me to leave so bad. Also most Walgreens usually get random Exclusive/Walgreens sticker Collectibles all i say is my luck by on your side have the Sku Number Ready for them to check!

    2. The Walgreens Employees: Yes i know we all have those Walgreens Employees that just doesn’t want to get off His/Her’s butt to go check for one specific collectible you name it. I been through being disrespected so much i just laugh it off ask for their name (s) report them to the Manager and now who’s laughing.

    Finally anyone who See Magik, Thing and Silver Surfer take Advantage don’t wait for the price to drop, Also ask Walgreens what are their truck days for Collectible with this i hope all legit collectors continue collecting, Have a Safe ThanksGiving & Black Friday!

    • ^This! You really can’t always trust what the websites says as far as Store availability. Very true, as I was told that two out of 3 stores in my area had a few, but they didn’t. I finally tracked a single Thing figure from the 3rd store and was lucky to find a sympathetic manager who was kind enough to hold on to it so I could buy it. Keep trying and good luck out there hunting for them.

  32. Got mine in the mail an hour ago from Fed Ex. Very pleased so far, though I haven’t unboxed yet. I hope there will be a review of this figure here on this site.

  33. Got my Magiks, both of them got left eyes that are printed too far to the left. Anyone else have this problem?
