Marvel Legends Thor Love & Thunder Movie Figures Up for Order! Korg BAF Series!

It’s been a while since an entire major series of movie Marvel Legends figures managed to completely slip out and become leaked public knowledge before Hasbro could even announce a singular figure from the lineup, but that’s exactly what happened this month with the latest MCU wave. Weeks prior to the scheduled pre-order date, the entire Marvel Legends Thor Love and Thunder series leaked out all over the internet. Hasbro hastily announced the set last week after the cat was already out of the bag, and now the Thor Legends Korg Series is officially up for order!

Marvel Legends Thor Love and Thunder Movie Figures Series

The case ratios for the Thor 3 Marvel Legends Korg Series are as follows:
(2) Thor [Battle Armor]
(1) Mighty Thor [Jane Foster]
(1) Thor [Ravagers]
(1) Gorr
(1) Star-Lord
(1) Groot
(1) King Valkyrie
Build-A-Figure: Korg

Yes, you read that right: the first-ever movie Lady Thor Legends figure of Natalie Portman is short-packed at one-per-case. Thank God we live in a time where online retailers are able to easily offer singles of most characters for at least a day after ordering opens up. “Mighty Thor” Jane comes with both helmeted and unhelmeted heads without Hasbro forcing us to buy a whole other action figure to get both looks. Thanks, Hasbro!

Thor Love and Thunder Legends Mighty Thor Lady Jane Foster Packaged

As a whole, this is one of the least compelling Marvel Legends series revealed in quite some time for me personally. I’ve been spoiled by seeing niche comic book characters like Sleepwalker mixed into movie lineups, so this purely movie wave seems a mite dull to me. It doesn’t help that we’re getting two very rehash-y Guardians of the Galaxy figures in the wave in the form of teen Groot and Star-Lord.

Thor Love and Thunder Groot Marvel Legends Figure

We basically got this same Groot nearly a half-decade ago in an Infinity War ML 3-pack, although the interchangeable extended hand included here looks pretty cool and has caught my attention. It’s also good to get this figure back into circulation as a single-carded figure for those who missed the original.

Marvel Legends Thor Star-Lord Figure Hasbro 2022

Chris Pratt Star-Lord is my favorite character in the whole MCU, but even I’m not enamored with this new release of him in 6″ form. Hopefully he has a really different and exciting look for GOTG Vol. 3 so I can justify more purchases of the character.

Marvel Legends Gorr Packaged MCU Thor Love and Thunder Movie

The figure I would have expected to be the highlight of this wave actually ends up being one of the biggest duds, IMO: Marvel Legends Gorr the God Butcher. The Jason Aaron-created villain is fearsome and highly popular from modern Thor comic books, but poor Gorr’s inaugural figure looks like a lamer rip-off of the Night King from Game of Thrones. Maybe seeing Gorr in the movie will turn me around entirely, but based solely on what I’ve seen so far, I’m not feeling the MCU God-Butcher at all.

Marvel Legends 2022 Thor Love and Thunder Movie Figure Box

There’s not one, but two versions of the God of Thunder himself in this wave. The double-packed iteration that comes without a Korg Build-a-Figure piece really jives with me, as I can feel this blue and red “Battle Armor Thor” dripping with Walt Simonson inspiration from that legendary comic book run. I think this is among the cooler Thor Legends variants we’ve gotten over the years, though I’ve heard a lot of collectors say they’re skipping this one.

Ravager Thor Marvel Legends 2022 Hasbro Figure Korg Series

The other version of Love and Thunder Thor we’re getting is this Ravagers Thor, which is something wholly different from what Hasbro has done for the Odinson before. I think this looks pretty fun and will sell just fine–especially after fans have a chance to see this costume in the new movie.

Marvel Legends King Valkyrie Korg Series Figure Packaged

MCU Valkyrie gets her first-ever single-packed action figure with the Marvel Legends King Valkyrie. I would love a deluxe version with a rideable Pegasus, but I think we all know that ain’t happening in this day and age. At least she gets a cool sword and two  BAF pieces. Speaking of which…

Marvel Legends Korg Build-A-Figure Thor Love and Thunder Movie Hasbro

Finally, we’ve got a new barbarian-looking Marvel Legends Korg Build-A-Figure (with the first being the gladiator one from the two-pack a couple years ago). This is a decent size and bulk and I think a Korg BAF works just fine as a “carrot” to sell the wave (although I would still really dig a Miek someday).

Marvel Legends Korg BAF Parts Breakdown

The Marvel Legends Thor Love & Thunder series is up for pre-order now and is scheduled to ship in April/May 2022 (in fact, some figures have already come into stock already and are ready to ship).

What do you think of this recently revealed wave, Marvel collectors? What figures–if any–are your “must have”s from this series, and are you planning to build the new BAF Korg?

Marvel Legends Thor Love & Thunder Movie Figures Up for Order! Korg BAF Series! — 6 Comments

  1. Mighty Thor, Ravager Thor, and Gorr (I have faith that Christian Bale can be a memorable villain) would be my pickups for this wave. Maybe Thor, if on sale…I might wait for the others to go on sale, actually. I don’t need another Korg, to say nothing of the rest of the singles.

But to be honest, I’m just not really looking forward to L&T. I was not a fan of Ragnarok and the whole bro-ing of Thor. Injecting humor into things is fine, and sometimes needed, but Thor is an eons-old warrior and Thunder God. He earned his gravitas. The fish out of water humor worked fine, he didn’t need to be turned into a needy dumb jock just for laughs.

  2. “MCU Valkyrie gets her first-ever single-packed action figure […]”

Sorry to be That Nitpicking Guy, but this would be the second; there was the white armor version in the Endgame wave.

  3. I love how Jane is somehow “Thor” by virtue of being able to lift a hammer as if “Thor” were some superhero mantle and not the guy’s freaking name. Being able to lift Peter Parker’s car keys does not make you Spider-Man. Someone tell Miles.

  4. I’m going to argue that the best Lady Thor was the one FUNKO Pop! did six years ago. If you’re looking it up, it’s called Funko Rock Candy Lady Thor figure. Totally lacking in all of the usual things you expect in an action figure, ie joints, it just looks right.

Funko Rock Candy occasionally does something exceptionally well, says their Thirteen Doctor and Tomb Raider figures. .

  5. Honestly, Star Lord looks weird to me. Kinda like little orphan Annie grew up to be a Space Pirate.
Groot being a repackage is so lazy to me.
And then this Gorr design…wow…it’s not Hasbro’s fault unless this is ENTIRELY based on some pre-renderings-pre-final-actual-movie-design. He just looks like a combo of the old classic MGM Mummy or a dead version of the lead priest guy from Game of Thrones. Hopefully he’s somewhat of a shapeshifter and this is one of his forms in the movie because…wow it’s boring. Maybe they spent all their budget on Natalie’s workouts and design cause she looks perfect…which makes him look even worse.
Korg being the BAF also feels lazy to me. He’s been updated to his movie outfit, but that’s pretty much just a few bits and colors. Meh.
There are SO MANY other figures they could have made instead. It’s weird. There will never be a “Perfect Set” that pleases everyone, but reissues really aren’t the way to go.
