Over my years of attending cons, I’ve passed people wearing shirts with the slogan “Anime: Crack is Cheaper” dozens of times. Well, I think that motto could be modified a bit into a very appropriate “Collecting Vinyl Figures: Crack is Cheaper”. I have a serious vinyl figure addiction that extends to many lines–but not the Medicom Marvel Retro Sofubi line. At least, not until now–the Retro Rocket Raccoon & Hulk Sofubi figures are now up for order!
But even with the gratuitous amount of Rocket Raccoon merch I’ve bought in the last twelve months, there’s apparently still room for something totally different, and Medicom is releasing it this summer: the newest addition to the Medicom Marvel Retro Sofubi vinyl figure line is a retro Rocket Raccoon figure, based off of Rocket’s limited series appearance from the 1980’s! Crazy!!
See, the Rocket Raccoon from the 1980’s looked a, uh, ‘little’ different from the way he looks today. As in, a whole lot more grey and wearing a much kookier green outfit. I never thought we’d see this look for Rocky Raccoon immortalized in toy form, but Medicom has decided to win me over with this vinyl!
But that’s not all–shipping out alongside Rocket this summer will be a Retro Hulk Vinyl Sofubi figure! Hulk will be larger than all of the other Retro Marvel Medicom 10″ vinyls, and will be priced accordingly (while the Rocket Raccoon will be slightly smaller than 10″). I’m good with my Hikari Hulks coming out this summer, but I know some hardcore Hulk fans will get a kick out of this very unique retro Hulk!
The Marvel Retro Sofubi Rocket Raccoon and Hulk figures are now available for order, and are scheduled to be released in July 2015. Hulk is nice and all, but I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night without this 80’s Rocket Raccoon Sofubi figure. So yeah–Rocket was an instant pre-order for me.
Has anyone out there been collecting these Medicom Marvel Sofubi Vinyl figures? And is anyone planning to jump on-board (like me!) for these latest releases like Rocket Raccoon?
