They say that good things come to those who wait. And if you were a fan of the movie version of The Falcon in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” in the spring, you’ve definitely had to wait for a quality action figure to be released. Hasbro missed the boat with no Marvel Legends Falcon figure and a mediocre 4″ Falcon, and the Hot Toys Falcon won’t be released until 2015. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel–an outstanding rendition of Anothony Mackie as the Falcon has now come home! The Marvel Select Falcon figure has now been released and is for sale online and in stores!
I ordered my Marvel Select Captain America The Winter Soldier Falcon figure online, so I’m going to have to wait a few days for my order to arrive. But as usual, I just couldn’t wait to check out the production version of The Falcon in person, so I went off in search of him at my local comic book stores.
If I had any concerns that the beautiful Diamond Select Toys Falcon action figure I saw at New York Toy Fair 2014 would look just as good on the production copies, those fears vanished when I saw the Marvel Select The Falcon action figure in the store.
While the Anthony Mackie likeness isn’t quite at the uncanny valley level of the Hot Toys Falcon, it’s vastly superior to what we saw on the 4″ The Falcon figure Hasbro released.
As they should be, Falcon’s wings are enormous–each wing is about the same length as the whole Falcon Marvel Select action figure itself! And the camouflage pattern on the Falcon’s pants came out looking outstanding–no paint flaws or misapplied lines whatsoever on the copy I saw up-close in the store. As we’ve come to expect from Diamond Select Toys, this is one stellar movie-based Marvel Select action figure.
As with most Marvel Select movie figures in the last year or two, The Falcon Marvel Select action figure has been a big hit and pre-sold out from most of the usual online retailers. BigBadToyStore and Entertainment Earth have both been sold out of Marvel Select The Falcon figure pre-orders for months, although a decent amount of third-party sellers still have Falcon available for about MSRP (for now). If you want Falcon, I’d highly advise getting him now–DST does not reissue movie figures, and their prices tend to skyrocket on the aftermarket once they’re fully sold out.
Now that you’ve seen the final finished product, what do you think of the 7″ Marvel Select Falcon action figure, Marvel collectors? Is this the Falcon that you’re looking for for your Marvel collection, or does this excellent representation of The Falcon not in line with what you’re looking for?
This figure would be great if it were 6 inches. Standing more than a full head over my Legends figures makes him a big “no thanks” for me. If DST could complete a single team within 20 years I would be more likely to buy more than Uatu and Mephisto.
…and IronMan, and WarMachine, and Hulk, and Abomination, and Juggernaut, and Colossus, …and IronMan, and WarMachine, and Hulk, and Abomination, and Juggernaut, and Colossus, and Thanos!! Aye! You got that right, sir. I agree nigh utterly completely about DS and Hasbro.
Even though MOST toy companies hardly ever complete teams. It’s far and few in-between. An annoying trend about this hobby. However, since Diamond Select;Marvel Select Toys has taken up the slack, once Again,of a fellow toy company–talking about you Hasbro– I look forward to adding FALCON to my shelf with the Widow and Cap or rather Falcon will be soaring overhead! See this hobby makes you creative and you learn little “forced perspective” tricks like that or creating dioramas that place smaller figures on rooftops in the background while bigger one dominate foreground or vice-versa depending on setup, size of display case etc. Dude the FALCON figure is so frakin awesome I may have to buy two(and break a personal rule about NO duplicates) just to keep one on card! Yes,it is as magnificent as the film was premiere night! Lol Thanos!! Aye! You got that right, sir. I agree nigh utterly completely about DS and Hasbro.

I’ve started to track down more of the Marvel Select figures, lately (having the benefit of a Disney Store very close by for those exclusives has helped kick that into gear – just picked up the Unmasked Spider-Man variant on Tuesday). This looks pretty awesome, despite the odd lack-of-mobility/articulation on the wings, so he’ll probably be a pick-up. To Skurge’s point above, it would have been nice for Hasbro to throw in a good Falcon with the recent Captain America Legends line, though. I’m a big CA nerd, but I easily think they could have done without ONE of the Cap figures in that group to make room for him.
I was looking at the photos and I said “this looks like Newbury Comics” then I saw the price sticker and I was right. 😛
Anyway, I really wish Hasbro would put out an ML…. I loved him and his design in the movie and I just can’t get into the Selects.
I love this action figure compared to the one released just in time for the movie! I cannot wait til the Falcon Sixth Scale Figure by Hot Toys is released in January 2015. I have no complaints, it’s a great companion piece to the other Falcons in my collection. I would love to see, however, he original orange and green costume on a Falcon action figure, that would be totally cool!
