Back in fall 2013 during NYCC, Gentle Giant Ltd. sent out an E-Mail previewing the second entry in their line of Marvel Zombies Villains mini-busts: Zombie Venom! Sometimes it takes the better part of a year (or more) to see a mini bust go from concept form to fully-painted prototype ready to order, but luckily, that’s not the case this time: the Gentle Giant Venom Zombie mini bust photos are out and the sculpture is now up for pre-order!
Though he wasn’t a major character in the Marvel Zombies series, when you think about it, Venom is a natural for being turned into a zombie (what with his insatiable appetite for eating brains and all). I wonder if zombie brains taste different from regular brains, though?
Zombies always really wig me out, and the Gentle Giant mini bust Venom Zombie in particular gives me the willies. All of the superb sculpting and paint details like Eddie Brock’s human eyeball and bloody muscles sticking out of the Venom symbiote costume are really, really freaky. If you dig that kind of thing, then this Zombie Venom bust just may be for you!
Gentle Giant has set the MSRP for the Venom Zombie mini-bust at $80, which I think is a very fair price for a mini bust in 2014. I was paying $50-$60 for smaller Bowen Designs mini busts a decade ago (with no regrets), so getting a Zombie Venom sixth scale bust for $80 is actually a pretty strong value, all things considered.
The Gentle Giant Marvel Zombies Venom Zombie Mini Bust is now available for pre-order, and is scheduled to be released in late 2014. I’m probably going to pass on this Marvel Zombies Venom mini-bust, as it is quite frankly way too creepy for me to want in my house.
