What with Marvel being owned by Disney and all, I guess it was inevitable that someday I would end up discussing Marvel pins here on Marvel Toy News. And while I’ll forgo discussing the Funko POP Pins for the moment (there’s really not much to say about them), what I won’t skip discussing is what just may be my favorite New York Comic Con exclusive this year: the NYCC 2015 Skottie Young Marvel Pins!
And now, just days away from the 2015 NYCC, Marvel has announced the Return of the Pins! (…Yeah. I may be a little overexcited.)
There will be 22 new Marvel pins based on Skottie Young artwork available at New York Comic Con 2015 this week. While I don’t like the character selection quite as much for this second offering (there’s no Kid Loki, Iron Fist, She-Hulk, Nova or Rocket & Groot this time), it’s a pretty impressive assortment nonetheless.
The Skottie Young NYCC 2015 exclusive Marvel Pins list is as follows:
A “Captain America” 3-Pack includes Captain America, The Winter Soldier and Sam Wilson Captain America (sometimes affectionately called “Captain Falcon”).
The Bucky pin is posed really oddly out of context, but I love the other two pins on this set, especially the Cap Falcon. Bought.
An Iron Man 3-Pack includes Iron Man, an unmasked Tony Stark (which unfortunately reminds me of the dreaded “Teen Tony” era) and a manga-looking Iron Man pin. I’m not into this set at all–but I suspect I’ll end up buying it for completeness’ sake nonetheless.
Next up we’ve got a Spider-Man & Mary Jane “Heart” Two-Pack. I hate MJ (Peter + Gwen = OTP), so being able to rip apart Peter Parker and Mary Jane in pin form will be a real treat. Bought.
Supposedly, only limited quantities of the Daredevil, Punisher and Unmasked Spider-Man pins will be available. You’ll be able to purchase one if you spend $30 at the shop, two of them if you spend $65, and all three if you spend $90.
Luckily, considering the sheer number of pins I’m going to have to buy at the shop (not to mention the matching couples “I’ll Be Your Fitz”/”I’ll Be Your Simmons” T-Shirts), I don’t think spending 90 bucks is going to be a problem.
Of all the Skottie Young pins available for the 2015 New York Comic-Con, the only one that truly disappoints me is the Director Coulson pin (that comes with a lanyard).
I know that the Marvel Comics version of Agent Coulson doesn’t look like Clark Gregg, but I hate how different the comics Coulson looks from the MCU version. This looks more like a Matt Murdock pin to me than a Phil Coulson. Alas.
- Drax
- Gamora
- Star-Lord (Unmasked)
- Angela
- Blade
- Spider-Woman
- Thor
- Deadpool
- Medusa
- Hawkeye
I gotta complete my Guardians of the Galaxy set, and I love the Hawkeye and Deadpool pins. Bought, bought, bought!!
I’ll be posting like a maniac from New York Comic Con 2015 later this week, so be sure to ‘Like’ Marvel Toy News on Facebook and turn on notifications to have news and photos from the event beamed right to your Facebook Newsfeed! (We also have a poorly-maintained Twitter page, if that’s more your style.)
Obviously, I’m a mite amped up about these NYCC exclusive Marvel pins. But what about you, fellow collectors? Are you as psyched about these as I am, or is there a different New York Comic-Con exclusive (or perhaps none at all) that you have your sights set on?
Hawkeye pin MUST be mine. Soooo awesome!
I hope that they start making Disney versions of these as well. They will fit in well with my Disney pin collection 🙂
Any news on if Hasbro is doing something Wednesday night like they did last year?48
Yup! I even got an invitation to Hasbro’s Pre-NYCC Party this year. Unfortunately, I’m fresh out of the hospital and won’t be in NYC for the Hasbro Party Wednesday night, but I’ll pass on what I hear from the event nonetheless…
@Dabid, my most favorite Marvel collectible blogger! What are the chances you can pick up a fellow collector some of thos coveted pins eh..?? 🙂
If I can get extras I’ll let you know, but the Marvel booth can be particularly vicious. I might not get anything. I guess we’ll see!
