Can’t get enough of that awesome War Machine Mark II armor that didn’t really appear in Iron Man 3 at all? Never get tired of pre-ordering $600+ 1/4 Iron Man figures that get delayed for over a year and may not ever actually even get released? If you answered “yes” to both these questions, Play Imaginative has just the thing for you! The Iron Man 3 Play Imaginative 1/4 War Machine Raw Edition figure is now available for order… and it’s limited to just 200 pieces produced!
But while the current number of Super Alloy Iron Man action figures Play Imaginative has shipped and produced is stuck at a whopping zero, that hasn’t stopped PI from soliciting for more pre-orders. And this week they announced their most limited Iron Man item yet: the Raw Edition War Machine Super Alloy 1/4 figure, with a LE size of just 200 units.
Ordinarily I might get excited about a limited run of 200 units (even when those 200 units are just an unpainted version of another figure). But while a limited edition size of 200 units produced sounds incredibly tiny on paper, considering that Play Imaginative has thus far produced and released a grand total of zero Iron Man 1/4 figures across their lines, it might as well be a million units.
Even so, seeing as how this figure is just a totally unpainted version of the regular Play Imaginative War Machine Mark II, I think that this Super Alloy War Machine Mk. II Raw Edition figure has the best chance of actually getting released of every single Super Alloy Iron Man toy that Play Imaginative has shown off. There’s really no need to worry about paint apps when your figure is totally unpainted, you know? Presuming Play Imaginative is genuinely able to produce this War Machine figure’s body, there should be nothing stopping this figure from actually making it out to stores.
Honestly, though, I feel like I’m over the Play Imaginative Iron Man Super Alloy line. Maybe when (if) some of the figures hit stores, my excitement will be rekindled, but after staring at these figures in photos and display cases since 2012 and not being able to own any of them, my enthusiasm has definitely waned.
The LE 200 Super Alloy Play Imaginative War Machine Mark II Raw Edition quarter scale figure is now available for pre-order, and will (allegedly) ship in July 2014. As the edition size on this one is pretty tiny, if you really think you might want one, you might want to pre-order now from a retailer like BBTS that doesn’t charge you up-front for a pre-order.
Sound off, Iron Man collectors! Is anyone out there seriously considering ordering this $600+ unpainted Raw Edition War Machine 1/4 figure?
