REVIEW: X-Men Marvel Legends MARROW Figure (2025 Nemesis Series)

Marrow is a character I never expected to own a toy of again after I had her Toybiz Generation X figure in 1996. But Hasbro is plowing through the Marvel half of the various Marvel vs. Capcom rosters, and the bone-wielding Morlock is the latest to benefit from the fighting video game to 6” figure spotlight! The 2025 X-Men Marvel Legends Marrow figure is shipping now as part of the Nemesis (Genocide) Series—is this unlikely figure a worthy one to add to your collection?

I’ll be honest: even though I had her first-ever action figure as a teen, I never particularly liked Marrow. Not when she was a leader of the Gene Nation terrorist group, not when she was flirting with Cannonball as an X-Man (although I was all-in on Maggott), and not even as a bizarre pick for the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 roster.

That said, she was part of the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 roster, so there was zero chance I wasn’t going to buy her first mass release action figure in nearly 30 years. And I have to admit—she’s a solid figure of a character I’ve little attachment to.

Toybiz Marrow Generation X Action Figure 5" 1996

The first thing I think needs pointing out is that this figure is based off of the “pretty” design for Marrow from the late 90s and MvC 2, not her original “monstrous” look that Toybiz captured (shon above). That makes sense, since I’m sure we wouldn’t be getting this toy at all if not for her video game inclusion. The head sculpt is pretty enough and suits her Capcom game artwork well.

I actually think Sarah’s more brutish appearance is more visually interesting, so I would have really appreciated an “ugly” alternate head for this figure (as the default head matching the one in MvC was a given). But beggars can’t be choosers, and if we were only getting one portrait for Marrow, this essentially needed to be the one.

2025 Hasbro Marrow Marvel Legends X-Men Action Figure ReviewMarrow’s distinguishing visual characteristics for this design are the bones protruding from her back and below her chest, and those features have been faithfully reproduced here.

Hasbro has vastly improved female figures over the last half decade, and X-Men Legends Marrow reaps the rewards of those advancements. Her figure is fully pin-less, with double hinged knees and elbows ball-jointed upper torso, swivel biceps and thighs, ball hips, ball-hinge head and shoulders, swivel-hinge wrists, and hinged feet with rockers.

Back of X-Men Marvel Legends Marrow Action FigureAll of the articulation is just the right amount of tight, moving smoothly and holding poses well. I really appreciate that Marrow’s “back bones” are permanently and tightly attached, rather than being a flimsy “bone backpack” that would fall off constantly.

Marvel Legends X-Men Nemesis Series Marrow Figure and AccessoriesFor accessories, Marrow gets the left arm and alternate left hand of the Genocide/Nemesis BAF, along with two bone blades to wield, one swappable fist and one swappable karate chop hand. The mismatched hands are a real irritant, but I’d rarely be posing Marrow not gripping at least one bone weapon, so I can cope with it.

Box Back Marvel Legends Marrow 2025 Figure Hasbro X-MenI’m not enamored with the $25ish MSRP for Marvel Legends this year, but this is the kind of superbly done figure I expect for that price-point. If every figure in this wave is this good (I’ll be reviewing them all this month), I’ll be a happy collector.

X-Men Legends Marrow 2025 Hasbro 6 Inch Figure ReviewOverall: for what Hasbro was clearly going for—an authentic Marvel vs Capcom 2 Marrow—this figure is a definite triumph. The likeness is excellent, the articulation is what we hope for in modern female action figures, and the quality control is on-point. I can nitpick the lack of a second first/karate chop hand and the omission of a Gene Nation head (that would be inaccurate for this design anyway), but this is an outstanding Hasbro figure that barely falls short of perfect. Grab this if you’re building an MvC roster collection—I doubt we’ll be seeing a toy of this character released ever again.
