Awww, Kotobukiya! Now you’ve gone and done it! Regular readers know that I’m pretty outspoken about my dislike of the Kotobukiya Bishoujo Marvel statues. I feel that they’re often posed in such a cheesecake way that they’re embarrassing to look at, much less bring into the house where my wife can see them. But Kotobukiya won my first-ever Bishoujo statue sale last year when they released one of my absolute favorite characters, and now they’re going to be removing money from my bank account once more for her variant–the SDCC 2014 Kotobukiya Classic Psylocke Bishoujo statue has now been revealed!
And then Kotobukiya had to go and prey upon my weaknesses for both Psylocke and the Jim Lee X-Men era. Though I’m not as big a fan of the X-Force Psylocke costume as I am her classic blue Jim Lee X-Men costume, I was helpless to resist picking up the Kotobukiya X-Force Psylocke statue that they released at the end of 2013 (and which has been one of the hottest selling Bishoujo statues to date).
While this is basically just a repaint of the previously-released 1/7th scale Bishoujo X-Force Psylocke statue, it’s worth nothing that a pink psychic energy effects piece has been added to the Kotobukiya Classic X-Men Psylocke’s katana sword. I love effects pieces, and this one looks pretty excellent!
The exclusive Kotobukiya Classic X-Men Psylocke Bishoujo statue will be available at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 in July 2014. For those not attending the show, there’s thankfully also going to be a limited number of pre-orders for non-attendees available through the Kotobukiya website prior to SDCC 2014.
How do you like the Bishoujo Psylocke X-Men Variant statue, Marvel collectors? Anyone who owns the X-Force Psylocke (besides me) planning to double-dip and pick up the X-Men costume Psylocke variant statue as well?
Nope.I’m good. Can’t say I’m not tempted. But nope, want it, don’t need it. Good with my X-force ver. And this line is actually one of my best sub-collections. I love the Japanese”pretty girl”style!
