Riddle me this (wait, wrong universe): What’s Grey, 23” tall, almost 600 bucks and limited to just 500 pieces produced? If you’re a Marvel statue collector fan (or just read the headline), you’ve probably guessed it! The inevitable we’ve all known was coming since the green Avengers Assemble Hulk Statue was first announced is finally here: the Sideshow EXCLUSIVE Grey Hulk Statue is now up for order! With a limited edition size of 500, will anyone choose this Hulk of a different color over the red or green varieties?
Today, even the cheapest Marvel Premium Format Figures typically run $550 and up, and a 1/5 Hulk Statue actually costs more than a 1/4 did a few years back. My, how things change, right?
As expected when the Green Hulk Avengers Assemble Statue went up for order last summer, Sideshow has now officially unveiled both grey and red variants of that Hulk Statue.
While the body is reused across all three 23” Hulk statues, all three versions at least have unique head sculpts. That is a huge blessing, in my opinion, as I outright disliked both heads the green Hulk came with. The Grey Hulk and Red Hulk heads look far more accurate to the character designs, in my opinion.
Typically Grey Hulk figures don’t seem to fare as well sales-wise as the other two colors, but I’ve seen a surprising number of collectors say that this is actually easily their favorite of the three versions of Avengers Assemble Hulk. My personal preference is always Rulk when he’s available, but even I have to admit that this might look the best of the triad this time out.
While ordinarily the turnaround time for a Sideshow Marvel statue is around a year, that’s not the case in this instance. Since this is largely just a repaint that had a set edition size to begin with, Sideshow has already got this one slotted in for production and even has the box read to show off. This is the rare case where it looks like we’ll be receiving a Sideshow Collectibles statue within half a year of placing the initial order!
The Sideshow Exclusive Avengers Assemble Grey Hulk Statue is now available for order, and is scheduled to ship out in the latter half of 2018. There are quite a few Grey Hulk fans out there and only 500 of these to go around, but $585 isn’t exactly pocket change. It’ll be interesting to see how speedily this piece sells out for sure.
Now that we’ve seen the Avengers Assemble Hulk variants trio, which is your favorite, Marvel collectors? Would you drop the big bucks on any (or all) of these three Hulks, and if so: which? Anyone picking up one of the Hulks as a standalone piece and skipping the other Avengers characters in this line entirely?
Sideshow is pricing collectors out of the hobby. It’s unreasonable to ask for that much for something that isn’t even PF. Even the PF statues are out of control. The last decently priced statue to come from sideshow was the Hulk vs Wolverine Maquette for 650. The last PF that was priced reasonably was the Spider-man PF for 480. This statue should be under 300 dollars….We need Bowen back.
I”m with you 150%.
If Hulk was going to have to cost $600, I think they should have gone 1/6 instead of 1/5.
Actually 1/6 is smaller than1/5.
By which I mean “They should have gone 1/6 if 1/5 was going to be $600–Because $600 is too much.” 😉
Okey now I understood your point. The smaller The scale, the lower the price👍
Personally i find that the red Hulk has the better head sculpt, with the green one being the least.
As for pricing , I find that prices in general have gotten way out of hand in general. There are only 1 or 2 manufactures are are still issuing quality statues at a fair reasonable price ( and that goes for action figures as well ). I ‘ ve held back no dishing big bucos for chat I relieve to be rediculously higo price. Unfortunately ahíle The jeep finding victoms uh I mean fans who well purchase them Tere well be no ending in sight.
I mean… that kind of price for headswaps…
