I was pretty lucky during the first ten days of Sideshow Collectibles’ Online Comic Con 2014 event. And by “lucky”, I mean that Sideshow didn’t put up a single item that I was going to be dropping hundreds of dollars on. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending upon your point of view), Sideshow hit the jackpot today with my wallet. Not only did Sideshow put the Hot Toys Bones Iron Man I’ve been lusting after for a year up for sale, but the humongous, long-awaited 32″ Sideshow Sentinel Maquette Statue is now up for order!
Sideshow Collectibles made it no secret that they had a monumental Sentinel maquette in the works. In fact, even though the prototype wasn’t ready to be fully debuted and it certainly wasn’t ready to be put up for sale, they went ahead and sneak peeked our first glimpse of the Sentinel Sideshow statue way back in May when the X-Men: Days of Future Past movie was all the rage.
And now that Sideshow Collectibles has finally dropped the curtain and let us see all of this Sentinel statue, it absolutely does not disappoint.
Sideshow’s Sentinel Maquette stands an insane 32″ tall–almost a full three feet tall! Though he won’t be the tallest Sideshow Marvel Maquette statue ever produced, there’s no shame in being an inch shorter than the world-devourer, Galactus, himself!
In case you had any fears that Sideshow was going to make a jaw-dropping front to this Sentinel maquette and then cheap out on the back of it–you can stop worrying! The rear view of this 32″ Sentinel statue is every bit as gorgeous as the front!
The metal panels and thrusters on the back of the Sentinel are exquisitely detailed, and look every bit as amazing as you would expect on an $899.99 statue.
And while the base isn’t anything special, the steel-colored technological base is a suitable platform for the Sentinel to stand upon without distracting or taking away for the splendor of the Sentinel sculpture itself.
And not only will the Sentinel come with a swappable head–but it’s going to be articulated, so that the Sentinel can look around! This will add a lot of personality to the Sentinel, and will also allow anyone rich enough to own multiples of this maquette to add some diversity to their displays. Good call, Sideshow!
The Sideshow Sentinel statue/maquette is now available for pre-order, with an estimated shipping date of June 2015. I want no part of having to pay for this crazy monster of a statue in one shot, so I’m going to use FLEXPay through Sideshow to only have to pay $81 a month. That way, he barely costs anything… right?!
Are you impressed with the largest Marvel maquette that Sideshow Collectibles has ever created, Marvel fans? Will around three feet and $900 worth of Sentinel goodness be joining your collection in 2015, or is this magnificent item way too rich for your blood?
