Harry Osborn is my favorite character in any iteration of Spider-Man, but I had my reservations about Dane DeHaan playing Harry Osborn in Amazing Spider-Man 2. As things turned out, Dane DeHaan’s performance as Harry Osborn was one of the brightest spots of that movie (not that that was all that difficult). And while I gagged at some of the illogical and irredeemable actions Harry perpetrated as the Green Goblin, I’ve been wanting a Hasbro action figure of him anyway. And in July 2014, the first Hasbro Amazing Spider-Man 2 Green Goblin figure will arrive!

I was legitimately more excited for the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie than any other movie coming out this year that doesn’t have a talking raccoon in it. A month ago, Hot Toys could have sold me pretty much anything with an Amazing Spider-Man 2 logo on it. Then I actually saw the Amazing Spider-Man 2, and I became a whole lot more selective about what I’d buy from that movie. Whatever 1/6 figures Hot Toys produced from the movie would have to be really excellent to get my attention. And as it so happens, the Hot Toys Electro figure that is now up for order looks downright awesome…

If there’s one thing that we’ve learned to count on for each and every Marvel movie that gets released, it’s a corresponding series of Diamond Select Toys’ Marvel Minimates figures! Oftentimes the Minimates series may miss the premiere of the movie it’s tied into, but we’ve grown accustomed to getting movie Minimates without fail (eventually). Toys R Us used to almost always have their own remixed exclusive wave of movie Minimates, but they’ve cut way back in recent years. However, Toys R Us did invest in their own exclusive Amazing Spider-Man 2 Minimates series, and it has now arrived in stores!

No, it’s not a Hot Toys Electro–they haven’t announced a sixth scale Electro (yet). Nor is it a Marvel Select Electro figure, as DST didn’t have reference materials in time to create a super-detailed Electro. No, this time out the most “high-end” figure is actually coming from Hasbro. I can be a pretty jaded toy collector these days, what with the state of the action figure aisle paling in comparison to the days of yesteryear and once-legendary franchises like Star Wars and G.I. Of all the things that I was not expecting to see while wandering around the Diamond Comics Distribution booth’s display cases at this week’s New York Toy Fair 2014, a brand-new, unannounced deluxe MAFEX action figure set would have been near the top of the list. While we learned last month than MAFEX had a brand-new Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie figure on the way for later in 2014, what we didn’t know until Toy Fair 2014 is that they were also planning on releasing a special MAFEX Amazing Spider-Man 2 DX Set with a ton of accessories. Of course, the catch is that those accessories will cost you. A lot.

When speculation hit the net that the major licensed 2014 LEGO sets would be delayed past January 2014 until after the theatrical release of The LEGO Movie (so as not to damage LEGO Movie sets’ early sales), I thought that notion was silly.
