I get at least one or two E-Mails every day asking me when I think a major Avengers Age of Ultron Vision, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch figures are coming. The answer is always the same: “The Hot Toys versions will be the only ones up for sale this year.” It’s enormously frustrating to hear, but it’s reality.
But maybe that harsh reality will be a little easier to accept after today, as the MMS296 Hot Toys Vision figure is now available for order!

When Diamond Select Toys announced the three figures making up the totality of their Avengers Age of Ultron Marvel Select lineup, the choices weren’t met with universal praise. In fact, many collectors turned their noses up entirely at the AOU Hulk and Thor figures. Hasbro must have heard that I was out buying a house today to put more toys into, because when I got home, I’d received an E-Mail with photos of a bunch of new figures that will be joining my (really) extended family this summer! Though we’ve seen and heard exactly zip about the figures since they debuted at New York Toy Fair 2015 (and they won’t go up for pre-order for a little while yet), the official packaged and unpackaged photos of the Hasbro 6″ Marvel Legends Avengers Series 3 figures have now been released!

Most recent Marvel movies have had a clear breakout character, be it Hulk, Loki or the Winter Soldier. Avengers: Age of Ultron is a little bit weird, though, in that its breakout star isn’t a new character at all–it’s an armor! Having generated more hype and merch than just about any other character, it’s a surprise that the kid-focused Marvel Mashers line hasn’t gotten its own Hulkbuster before now. But the wait is at an end–the Mashers Hulkbuster Iron Man has arrived… and it’s exclusive to Walmart!

Of all the new companies that began producing Marvel collectibles in 2015, the one that made the single most divisive line is likely ThreeA Toys. While 3A Toys is beloved for its original creations, the radically redesigned 3A Marvel sixth scale figures have been met with a mixture of praise and disdain from Marvel fans.

I’m not looking for props or anything (well, actually I am), but I totally called this one. When Diamond Select Toys announced back in January that there were only three Marvel Select Avengers Age of Ultron figures scheduled for release–and none of them were Hulkbuster Iron Man–I would have laid down money that it was because a comics-based Marvel Select Hulkbuster Iron Ma figure was in the works. A decade ago, I could pretty much plan on at least one store-exclusive Star Wars store figure, vehicle or box set being released per month. These days, though, Marvel has stolen all the store-exclusive mojo (for now), and it seems you can’t throw a rock without hitting a bunch of exclusive Marvel figures. And today, I finally stumbled across an Avengers Age of Ultron 3-Pack I’d been watching out for for months, including the exclusive Hasbro 4″ Ultron Mark 1 figure!

I woke up this morning to the terrifying realization that there was no caffeine in the house. Seeking to avert this catastrophe, I decided to do an early-morning Target run, even though I wasn’t on the hunt for anything of the non-caffeinated variety. Luckily, I don’t think I’ve ever been in a Target in my entire life without checking the toy department, so I had to do a quick check–and discovered some figures I didn’t even know were out! Diamond Select Toys can be pretty hit or miss with releasing movie Marvel Minimates in time for a new flick’s theatrical release, as corresponding Minimates sometimes hit months after a film’s release.
But the first set of Avengers Age of Ultron Minimates was right on schedule and is currently on store shelves–and now we can look forward to Avengers Age of Ultron Minimates Wave 2 arriving late this summer, including Vision, Bruce Banner, Hulk and Hulkbuster Iron Man!
