LEGO is ready to capitalize on the blockbuster sales of the LEGO Marvel video game by rolling out five new LEGO Marvel 2014 sets this winter! News hit the street on Thanksgiving Day last week that Hot Toys was bringing back the highly-desirable Hot Toys Hulk figure in a special set with the all-new Hot Toys Bruce Banner sixth scale figure. We had to wait a week to get confirmation that this duo would be making their way to the United States, but the long-awaited Bruce Banner Hot Toys figure (and The Other Guy!) are now up for pre-order! Now that the holidays are at an end (at least for a couple weeks), I’ve got a chance to step back and discuss some news items I didn’t have time to talk about during Thanksgiving break. First up on the list is the third release in the Marvel NOW Kotobukiya Avengers ArtFX+ line: Captain America! Cap debuted at SDCC 2013 in July, but was M.I.A. when NYCC 2013 rolled around in October. Just when many collectors thought that the Hot Toys Avengers 1/6 Movie Masterpiece Series figures line was at an end, Hot Toys has revealed to the world the official photos and specifications for two more Avengers Hot Toys Sixth Scale figures! Though we first saw a Chitauri Footsoldier prototype over a year ago, fans were skeptical it would ever be released. Hot Toys might have taken that notion as a challenge, because they’ve now created not one but two Chitauri figures! I saw reported sightings of the new set of exclusive Toys R Us Marvel Minimates Wave 17 for the first time this morning, and decided to make it my new quest to see the Minimates wave in person. One of the best things about Diamond Select Toys’ Marvel Select action figures line is that DST regularly reissues older figures from the line, thus giving new collectors a chance to collect Marvel Select figures that have been out of print (sometimes for years) without having to max out their credit card bill. Sometimes Diamond Select makes character choices to reissue that are sensational, and sometimes the picks are less exciting. The impending 2014 reissues of Marvel Select Captain Marvel and Spider-Woman fall into the more boring latter category…

When Kotobukiya showed off the unpainted Bishoujo Spider-Woman statue sculpt at New York Comic Con 2013 one month ago, we knew it wasn’t going to be long until we saw the official painted photos of the piece and the opening of pre-orders.
Sure enough, over the weekend Kotobukiya released glamor shots of the statue, and the 2014 Kotobukiya Spider-Woman Bishoujo statue is now available for order!

Though Hasbro has released so many 4″ Avengers figures in the Marvel Universe action figure line over the last few years that I have legitimately lost track of the number, we arrive now at the final Avengers entry in the Marvel Universe line. Thankfully, Hasbro opted to give us an all-new character never before released as a Marvel Universe figure instead of yet another Iron Man or Captain America repaint.

Regular readers know that I’m not quite a fan of the typical Kotobukiya Bishoujo Marvel statues. That said, Kotobukiya definitely got my attention last week when they revealed the concept sketch for a Jubilee Bishoujo statue before New York Comic Con 2013 even began! I suspected we wouldn’t see any further sneak peeks of Jubilee (that sounded dirty) at the show, but I made Kotobukiya an early stop at NYCC 2013 nonetheless. After a pretty wild time at New York Comic Con 2013, I’m back to continue on with my Marvel coverage of the event! One booth I was particularly interested in checking out was the Kotobukiya booth. Since Kotobukiya fully-revealed the Avengers Now Black Widow ARFTX+ statue about a week ago, I figured we’d be seeing the painted Marvel Now Captain America statue on display joining her at NYCC 2013. If that headline sounds absolutely ridiculous to you, it should–it coincides with one of the more bizarre occurrences I’ve seen while collecting Marvel figures or Disney Vinylmation. Despite earlier statements that Disney Vinylmation Marvel Series 1 would be sold in stores–and the display sample figures being sent to the Disney Stores already–Disney has backtracked today and instead decided that the Marvel Vinylmation Series will not be sold in Disney Stores at this time…
UPDATE 10/10/2013: Disney is now saying via their official Vinylmation site that the release is back on and the Vinylmation Marvel Series will in fact be released tomorrow, October 11th 2013.

Is your Hulk Hot Toys figure lonely being the biggest figure in your Sixth Scale figure collection, towering over all of his to-scale comrades? Well, NECA may have just the thing to cure your Hot Toys Hulk’s blues–a new quarter-scale Avengers Iron Man Mark VII figure for Hulk to hang out with! If you’re like me and buy a gadjillion toys every month, you probably begrudge LEGO for consistently releasing a lot of expensive sets. It used to just be LEGO Star Wars that wanted a piece of my wallet, but LEGO moved in for the kill with last year’s LEGO Avengers and this year’s LEGO Iron Man 3 lines.
