Nobody–and I mean nobody–has more San Diego Comic-Con 2015 exclusives than Funko! But fear not, fans who aren’t attending SDCC 2015 and those who are but don’t want to brave the Funko line! Most of the exclusives are actually available online already in limited quantities at the same cost as at the show through various retailers already! And luckily, one of those exclusives is among my favorites for the event: the SDCC Funko POP Vinyls Emoticon Chested Baymax is now up for order!

Funko Fabrikations Groot & Baymax at New York Toy Fair 2015!

While Funko only had a whopping two new Marvel POP! Vinyls to debut at New York Toy Fair 2015 over the weekend, that’s not to say that Marvel was underrepresented–at all. In fact one of the smallest Funko imprints premiered two all-new, previously unannounced figures at the show that are coming this spring: Funko Fabrikations Groot from “Guardians of the Galaxy” and Baymax from “Big Hero 6” are now up for order!

Whether you love the Disney Infinity 2.0 video game or absolutely loathe it (and there are plenty of Marvel fans who feel each way), there’s no denying that Disney has a real sales juggernaut (no, not that Juggernaut) on hand with the franchise. So it’s only fitting that the stars of Disney’s latest (hopefully) hit movie gets the Disney Infinity treatment. And just in time for the release of the Big Hero 6 movie, they have–the Disney Infinity Baymax and Hiro Hamada figures are now available!

I feel like a total heel admitting it, but my vinyl figure collecting heart has wavered in 2014. I used to insist that all other vinyl lines were second-fiddle to Disney Vinylmation, but Funko has really captured my heart this year with their adorable unique sculpts and insane amount of releases. But while my Vinylmation collecting has been out on the back burner, there’s no way I wouldn’t take an interest in a whole set of Marvel-inspired Vinylmation figures hitting this week–the Disney Vinylmation Big Hero 6 series has now been released!

The buzz surrounding the summer blockbuster hit Guardians of the Galaxy movie hasn’t even had a chance to quiet down, but already it’s time for the next (and last) Marvel movie of 2014: Big Hero 6! I’m not even close to being all-in on Big Hero Six merch until I see the movie, but there was no way I could resist the Amazon exclusive Funko Glow-in-the-Dark Baymax POP! Vinyls figure, which is sure to be another fast sell-out and quick riser on the aftermarket. Is this super-sized Funko POP vinyl balloon man worth your shelf space?

Marvel Comics has essentially divorced itself from the upcoming Disney Big Hero 6 movie in every conceivable way. The Marvel Comics logo is absent from virtually all promotional materials and they’ve basically said that there will be no new Big Hero 6 comic books now or in the foreseeable future–not even new reprints in trade paperback form. I’ve been a Big Hero Six fan since 1998, so I’m not ready to give up on the franchise just yet (that is, not unless the Big Hero 6 movie really, really sucks). And while the Big Hero 6 toys definitely have their flaws, they have some positives worth commending as well…

Anybody besides me who’s read every Big Hero 6 comic book every published–when they were published–raise your hands. Anybody? Anybody…? I didn’t think so. And if you haven’t read the original Big Hero Six comic books, be grateful, as you may not be quite as dubious about the massive departure Disney is taking from the source material for the upcoming Big Hero 6 movie as I am. But not everyone is as jaded as me–Funko has their confidence up high and has just put up for order a jam-packed series of seven Big Hero Six POP! Vinyls figures!
