Black Widow has got to be in the running for the female character who’s had the highest number of 6” Marvel Legends figures over the years. From live action to comic-based, from Natasha to Yelena, we’ve had no shortage of Hasbro Black Widow figures over the years. San Diego Comic Con is generally the singular biggest event of the year for Sideshow Collectibles to unveil new statues at, and while SDCC 2021 isn’t *really* happening this year as a physical show, Sideshow has been holding their own Sideshow Con 2021 this week instead! While it was a virtual certainty that we’d see a Marvel Legends Black Widow movie series in 2020, I don’t think many folks would have placed money on the Build-A-Figure of the series being Gennady Gavrilov, the 8th Crimson Dynamo who debuted in the 2003 “Crimson Dynamo” limited series! The rationale for the Marvel Legends Crimson Dynamo BAF being included in the Black Widow wave was obviously “Russian”, which is a little bit of a tenuous connection. When Diamond Select Toys debuted their humongous Archangel statue at NYCC 2019 last October, I had my doubts they could keep it below the usual $199 Premier Collection price-point regardless of what the placard said at the event. Last week I noted my surprise that the movie Black Widow Legends figure in white costume was going to be available via many retailers and not just as a Target or Walmart exclusive like last year’s pair of Captain Marvels. While the biggest headline news of this last week of October 2019 is unquestionably the arrival of easy pre-orders for the first pair of Hasbro Marvel Legends 2020 figures, that doesn’t mean that other companies have been quietly idling!
