You just know it’s a true golden age of Marvel action figures when Hasbro feels confident enough to bring out a new version of one of Toybiz’s biggest duds of all-time. The Spider-Man The Animated Series Spider-Armor figure languished unloved on store shelves for years and years in the 90s, which is likely why it’s never been upgraded to a 6” figure. But the time has come to see the Spider-Armor Mark I available again, and the retro 90s Toybiz packaging definitely feels apropos in this instance. this is probably the only Marvel Legends Spider-Armor Mark I figure ever to be available—is it worth getting? Here’s my review…

It’s fitting that in the year that will include the half-century anniversary of his first appearance, Hammerhead will at long last be having his first mass-release action figure on retail store shelves as well. He may look like a generic gangster with a bad haircut, but Hammerhead has appeared in numerous forms of media over the years and is among the most prolific Spidey villains still needing a Hasbro figure. Now that the Marvel Legends Hammerhead Spider-Man Retro Series figure is available and shipping out, should you let this mobster lay claim to your 22 dollars?

If you own the original Rhino BAF, is this release skippable or a worthwhile upgrade?
Continue Reading →Ever since Sideshow Collectibles debuted the painted prototype of their upcoming new iteration of the Lethal Protector last July, fans have been asking when they’ll have the opportunity to place their pre-orders for the hulking 23” brute. Well, out of nowhere and with little fanfare, that day has arrived: the new 1/4 Sideshow Venom Premium Format Figure is now up for order! How much will this massive monster set you back, and is he worth the spatial and monetary cost?

And while their latest round of solicits included just one pair of Marvel-themed items, both are good sculptures that will appeal highly to value-priced collectors: the X-Men Animated Professor X and deluxe Marvel Gallery Green Goblin statue are now available for order!
Continue Reading →If anyIf anyone had told me a year ago that my last review of 2021 would be me reviewing a Marvel Legends Armadillo Build-A-Figure semi-blind, I’d have thought they were crazy on all fronts. But here we are, so let’s begin. Collectors will need to buy almost the entire Marvel Legends Spider-Man No Way Home figures series of 6″ figures to get all the pieces for the ML Armadillo BAF. Is it worth the expense to build this relatively obscure pro wrestling supervillain?

I instantly fell in love with the Funko POP Gingerbread Spider-Man figure, and had my pre-order locked in as soon as listings for the series went up in August. And now that Gingerbread Spidey has arrived…? I am not at all disappointed. In fact, I want more POPs in this stylized form…
Continue Reading →ven the hundreds and hundreds of 6” Marvel Legends figures Hasbro has cranked out over the last decade, you might think there are few significant characters left needing an update from Toybiz or even needing their first ML action figure. But as it turns out, there’s still some fan-favorites waiting for the limelight—and Hasbro is kicking off the first Spider-Man Marvel Legends 2022 Build-A-Figure wave with one such character! One of the last remaining key characters necessary to complete the Maximum Carnage 90s crossover lineup is the sound-manipulating psychopath herself: the 2022 Marvel Legends Shriek figure is in the house!
Continue Reading →It had been a long time since Hasbro unveiled a whole upcoming series of Marvel Legends action figures that hadn’t been fully leaked or at least heavily rumored all over the internet, but the Hasbro Marvel Team accomplished that very feat at this week’s Hasbro Pulse Marvel Fan First Monday stream! The 2022 Marvel Legends Spider-Man Retro Series 2 figures are now up for order—including the first-ever Spider-Armor Mark I and Hammerhead, new versions of Shocker, Ben Reilly Spider-Man and Hobgoblin, and more!

Hasbro Pulse Con and New York Comic Con 2021 may not be until October, but Hasbro isn’t waiting to drop some more big news and has another Marvel Fan First Monday livestream scheduled for tomorrow! And while we don’t know exactly what might be shown (especially now that the Eternals Marvel Legends series has finally, finally been officially solicited), Hasbro revealed a teaser in advance of Monday’s stream: a 2022 Marvel Legends Symbiote Spider-Man Retro Series figure!

Collectors had sky-high hopes for things like new Alfred Molina Doc Ock and Tobey Maguire Spider-Man Legends figures, but, well—what actually came to fruition is a little different: the Marvel Legends Spider-Man No Way Out Armadillo Series is now up for order!

2021 has been a weird year for the Marvel Legends Prop Replicas (or life-size “premium role-play items”, as Hasbro calls them officially) lineup. We got the excellent Marvel Legends Eye of Agamotto, but also the wildly-colored and totally bizarre bright cyan Captain America Stealth Shield. I wasn’t sure if we’d see any more entries this year, but looks like Hasbro had one more in the works, and it’s a good one: the Avengers Endgame Marvel Legends Iron Spider helmet is now up for order! Most of these ML life-size helmets have been pure win, and this looks like no exception…
Continue Reading →San Diego Comic Con 2021 at Home is going on now, but it’s been rather quiet news-wise for figures nonetheless. Hasbro dropped loads of new Marvel Legends figures (and a $400 World-Devourer) earlier in the month, and Hot Toys had their big week of premieres last week. Luckily for statue fans, Diamond Select Toys (and Sideshow Collectibles) have some goodies to show off (and sell). Let’s begin with DST, whose new Legends in 3D Green Goblin Bust and Marvel Gallery Spider-Man PVC statue are now up for order!
Continue Reading →Last fall, Hasbro threw diehard 90s Spider-Man fans a real treat with the reveal and subsequent release of their exclusive 6” Marvel Legends Cyborg Spider-Man, upgrading the fan-favorite 90s Toybiz figure. This summer, Hot Toys has upped the ante further, by announcing their own 1/6th scale Cyborg Spidey exclusive! And that’s not all: an Infinity War Neon Tech 4.0 Iron Man will be the other Hot Toys 2021 Toy Fair Exclusive! Are either of these limited release figures must-haves for sixth scale collectors? Let’s have a look…

Since XM doesn’t have a US distribution license for their Marvel statues, they are generally immensely expensive to procure domestically. Even so, I want to get back to diversifying and talking about every option out there—and this is a good time to do so, because the XM Studios Rhino statue is now up for order! This massive XM Rhino 1/4 will set high-end collectors back a grand-plus: is this beast looking worth it?
