Hasbro’s marketing team set expectations for this weekend’s New York Toy Fair by saying there would only be a couple new Marvel Legends reveals, and they stayed true to their word. But what reveals they were! Along with the life size Doctor Doom helmet replica (that I’ll talk about tomorrow), they announced a long-demanded updated figure to launch alongside the previously-revealed X-Force Warpath and X-23: the deluxe Marvel Legends X-Force Archangel will take flight thisweek! Let’s have a look…
Even so, I was bummed when the Hit Monkey series X-Force Archangel variant running change was scrapped, and that SDCC Exclusive set is one of the few SDCC Marvel Legends sets I ever missed out on. But after many years of low-key pining, I’ll finally be getting my first Uncanny X-Force Archangel figure ever—and thankfully, he’s a terrific modern figure with the quality that entails!
Using the body mold from last year’s deluxe Angel figure as a base, this Marvel Legends 2025 archangel figure comes with all-new wings, new heads and new hands. That’s just fine in my book, since Warren is still the same person with the same body, after all!
The figure comes with two great head sculpts, including a pissed-off closed-mouth portrait and a pissed-Off open-mouthed yelling head. Warren is just one pissed-off dude when he’s in this form!
In addition, he comes with alternate open hands and a pair of metal feather flechettes effects pieces. The shooting flechettes effects is so cool! I really look forward to seeing them on a future pink and blue costume Archangel (which, let’s face it, is inevitable now).
I’ve heard some early gripes about the lack of butterfly shoulders, but as we saw with last year’s Angel, the engineering of the wings and how they need to attach makes that articulation point impossible. I’m really pleased with the arm articulation on Angel from last year regardless, so I’m not too fussed about the same articulation set here.
Also going up for order this month alongside Uncanny X-Force Archangel are the X-Force Warpath and X-23 figures announced during the February Pulse stream. These are updates to older Hasbro releases of these characters, who were actually on the X-Force team lineup -prior- to Remender’s run.
I have the original X-Force X-23 and Warpath Legends figures, but they’re feeling quite dated now and I’m happy to upgrade them with this two-pack later this month.
Marvel Legends X-Force Archangel will go up for sale online on Thursday afternoon, March 6th, with the Warpath/X-23 set coming later in the month. Which of these black ops mutants (if any) will be sneaking into your collection this year, Marvel collectors? Do you want to see any more X-Force figures from these eras, like Wolfsbane, Domino, Elixir or Vanisher?
Black costumes are so boring
