Nimrod was created by Chris Claremont in the 1980s to be the pinnacle of mutant-hunting Sentinels combatting the X-Men. The deadly robot largely fell out of notoriety in the following decades, until his featured role in Jonathan Hickman’s X-Men in 2019 reignited his popularity and earned (modern) Nimrod his first-ever Marvel Legends figure (as part of a 3-pack). But now, the classic killer robot is storming in for a solo release: the deluxe Marvel Legends Nimrod figure is now up for order!
I was pretty overjoyed to get that 2020 Nimrod Marvel Legends figure (pictured below for those who need a reminder), even though there he had quite a few articulation woes and he was part of an exclusive 3-pack. This new release fixes the latter problem, but leaves the former ones untouched.
Revealed at Lucca Comics & Games 2025 late last month, the new release of X-Men Legends Nimrod will be a standalone figure that’s a very, very slight update to the figure first released packed with Fantomex and X-Force Psylocke half a decade ago.
Deluxe Nimrod features two nerd heads and an updated paint scheme to add a lot more pink paint onto the body (including thicker lining and pink on the hands). He loses the modern silver face head and the pink “energy wings” backpack, as those are elements of Krakoan era Nimrod and this single pack is meant to be the classic version.
I’m biased toward the modern Nimrod design to begin with, and I’m not overly impressed with the deco changes here. The lighter pastel pink doesn’t feel as right to me as the old hot pink. If Hasbro had gone for an all-pink Nimrod palette (as he was sometimes colored), I genuinely would have liked it more.
The body mold is the same, so none of the articulation is improved, either.
On the bright side, I like both new faces, particularly the gaping open-mouth one. And I think it’s always good to make figures previously locked behind multipacks and Build-A-Figure waves accessible to more collectors. He also still includes both pairs of hands and both energy blast effects to expand display choices, at least.
The 2026 Marvel Legends Nimrod deluxe figure is now up for order and should arrive this winter. Nimrod is an important villain in the X-mythos, so I’m glad to see a solo release for him, even if I would have preferred a more upgraded edition. I’m still waiting and hoping for an X-Men 97 Bastion as well (which I bring up since that character is kind-of, sort-of also Nimrod, in addition to being the primary antagonist of X-Men 97 Season 1).
Thoughts on this new classic Nimrod Legends figure, Marvel collectors? Do you prefer this version or the 3-pack release?

I was really excited to see this. I had zero interest in the other figures in that 3 pack, and have just been sitting back hoping for this single release. I was one of those kids buying X-men in the 80’s when Nimrod first appeared, so classic is exactly what I was hoping for. It’s not perfect, but I’ll take it.
