One of the primary things I’ve been looking forward to seeing at the 2019 Toy Fair is the new line of ARTFX Premier Statues that Kotobukiya surprise-announced with a teaser image of Captain America and Thor earlier this week. Well, as expected those first two pieces appears today at Toy Fair—along with surprise debuts of Hulk and Iron Man! Having seen these pieces in person, there’s no question Kotobukiya has upped their detail and quality game… although they’ve up their prices as well…

New York Toy Fair 2019 begins in under a week, but before I’m in NYC to check out and report on the armada of new Marvel figures and collectibles being featured there, I want to backtrack and check out some recent solicitations I haven’t touched on yet—including the final two additions to the Kotobukiya Avengers ARTFX+ Series! While the line has lost some steam due to increased prices and competition, I think there’s still some hype left for this pair: the Kotobukiya ARTFX+ Thanos and Captain Marvel statues are now up for PO!
Continue Reading →2018 has been a bit of a quiet year for Kotobukiya, with zero new Marvel Bishoujo statues released and little buzz surrounding their ARTFX+ Infinity War and Avengers Series 2 1:10 PVC figures. But one item that exceeded expectations and got a lot of love was the 1:6 scale Webslinger Spider-Man ARTFX Statue. So much love, in fact, that it’s getting a pretty magnificent (and huge!) companion piece next year: the 16.5” Kotobukiya Venom ARTFX Statue is now up for order!
Continue Reading →Erick Sosa has sculpted some of Kotobukiya’s most legendary pieces over the past half decade-plus, including the ultra-popular X-Men Danger Room Sessions series of resin statues and the grail-like Spider-Man and Venom Fine Arts statues. But last month, an era came to an end when Sosa announced he was leaving Koto. Even so, there was still one final Sosa statue stuck in the pipeline, and though it no-showed NYCC 2018, it’s officially confirmed to be coming our way: the Kotobukiya Weapon X Wolverine Fine Arts statue is now up for order!
Continue Reading →Kotobukiya is one of my favorite companies to visit every time I’m in New York City for a major toy event, as they’ve always got at least something new for Marvel collectors to ogle at. And New York Comic Con 2018 was no exception! While the Weapon X statue I was hoping to see in-person wasn’t present, Koto unveiled their upcoming Vision and Thanos ARTFX+ statues, reveal their next Marvel Bishoujo Statue, and had a killer X-Men Animated figure diorama set up…
Continue Reading →Sam Wilson’s short tenure as Captain America may have come to an end last year, but the merch for Falcon Captain America is likely to continue coming in small bursts for years to come. And so, even though Sam Wilson has gone back to his better-known identity of The Falcon, Kotobukiya is producing Sam for their first-ever time–in his Cap persona: the Kotobukiya Sam Wilson Captain America ARTFX+ statue is now up for order!
Continue Reading →Kotobukiya traditionally has only produced one or two (or zero) ARTFX+ statues for a given Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, but perhaps inspired by Avengers Infinity War having the largest case of heroes ever assembled, Koto is following suit with their most expansive MCU statue series to-date. And the third figure in the series is a character who broke out in Infinity War far more than his solo movie: the Kotobukiya Doctor Strange ARTFX+ statue is now up for order! But while this statue is priced as if it were made of resin, it’s actually PVC…
Continue Reading →Despite the fact that the Kotobukiya only announced their ARTFX+ X-Men 92 Figures line earlier this year, they’ve made it no secret that they’re going all-in with this series of 1:10 PVC statues right off the bat. And so, even though there’s still loads of villains and ancillary characters to make, all of the core members of the X-Men Animated team have now been accounted for: the Kotobukiya Gambit & Rogue ARTFX+ two-pack is now up for order!
Continue Reading →San Diego Comic Con 2018 is just a day away, but Kotobukiya must have figured “Hey, why not get a head start on the competition?”, because they decided to reveal two never-before-seen ARTFX+ statues today! And hey, it’s not just “another Iron Man” and “another Captain America” either. Instead, it’s two characters Koto has never captured in this scale before: the Kotobukiya ARTFX+ Gamora and Phoenix statues are now up for order!
Continue Reading →Some Marvel collectibles lines are so good that collectors are willing to wait however long it takes to get the next release in the series. One such series is the Kotobukiya X-Men Danger Room Sessions series of Fine Arts statues, featuring renditions of iconic X-Men characters sculpted by Erick Sosa. It’s been over three since the Kotobukiya Rogue Danger Room Sessions Statue was solicited, but finally the next piece is on the way: the Kotobukiya Storm Fine Arts Statue is now up for order!
Continue Reading →While it didn’t exactly shatter all-time box office records in the manner that other recent Marvel Studios movies have, “Ant Man and the Wasp” had a pretty solid opening week (at least, as far as the potential of the titular characters goes). And so, while Scott Lang may never be an ‘A’-List character like Iron Man, this is still the ideal time for marketing his merch—and Kotobukiya is ready to do just that! The Marvel ARTFX+ Ant-Man is now up for order—and hey, you even get mini Ant-Man and Wasp figures with it! Is it worth modern Koto prices…?
Continue Reading →The Kotobukiya ARTFX+ X-Men ‘92 statues line has been one of the best surprises of 2018 so far, with figures of Wolverine, Jubilee, Cyclops, Beast and Professor X in hoverchair already solicited. And this week, the team grew some more with two more 90s mainstays: the Kotobukiya ARTFX+ Storm and Bishop two-pack is now up for order! Oh, and for those wanting the most famous Avengers mutant? ARTFX+ Scarlet Witch is on the way as well!
Continue Reading →Despite the hundreds of 6” scale Marvel Legends figures that have been released over the last decade and a half, there are still major omissions from the X-Men ‘92 lineup. While perhaps the lack of a Jim Lee Jubilee is still the most keenly felt, there’s another animated-era costume just as high on thousands of collectors’ wish lists. And while we may be waiting a bit longer for this character in Marvel Legends, Kotobukiya has a placeholder for us: the ARTFX+ Professor X in Hoverchair is now up for order!
Continue Reading →Over the weekend, I was gushing about how downright amazing I thought the Iron Studios Infinity War Thanos 1:10 scale Statue was. Little did I know that just a few days later, Koto would be surprising us all with a last-minute Mad Titan reveal of their own: the Kotobukiya Infinity War Thanos ARTFX+ Statue is now up for order! How does it stack up to the competition’s statues? Let’s have a look…
Continue Reading →It might only feel like yesterday that Kotobukiya kicked off their Marvel ARTFX+ statues line of PVC figures, but (prepare to feel old) it was actually a half a decade ago now. Zoinks. But to celebrate 5 years of ARTFX+ Marvel, Koto is going back to where the line began: with an expansion of the Avengers! And hey, you could do a lot worse than starting off with the titular character of the top-grossing US superhero movie ever: the Kotobukiya Black Panther ARTFX+ Statue is now up for order!
