If I wasn’t expecting Square-Enix to debut a Marvel Play Arts Kai variant figures line at New York Comic Con 2014 by unexpectedly showing off the Play Arts Kai Iron Man figure (and I was not), then I definitely wasn’t expecting the second figure from the line to be revealed as well.
Square-Enix oftentimes likes to take their dear sweet time, but I guess they were just too excited about Play Arts Kai Spider-Man to wait!

Marvel Comics has essentially divorced itself from the upcoming Disney Big Hero 6 movie in every conceivable way. The Marvel Comics logo is absent from virtually all promotional materials and they’ve basically said that there will be no new Big Hero 6 comic books now or in the foreseeable future–not even new reprints in trade paperback form. I’ve been a Big Hero Six fan since 1998, so I’m not ready to give up on the franchise just yet (that is, not unless the Big Hero 6 movie really, really sucks). LEGO Marvel collectors got a highly unexpected–and highly expensive–surprise this weekend when a totally unannounced LEGO Marvel minifigure polybag sold online for $187 after being given out at a LEGO KidsFest event in Virginia.
This minifigure polybag is going to be of major interest to LEGO Marvel completists, because the LEGO 5002125 polybag is currently the only known way to get an Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie Electro LEGO minifigure!

Poor Yondu gets no respect. Hasbro passed him by for the Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy series. There’s no Hot Toys Yondu figure in the works, nor is there a LEGO Yondu minifigure on the way. Even Funko opted to leave Yondu out of the first series of Funko Guardians of the Galaxy POP! Vinyls figures. But finally, Yondu is about to get his due! Today, Disney announced that a Disney Infinity Yondu figure is in development, and Yondu will be a playable character in the Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel video game!

In the early days of the Disney Vinylmation figures line, the rarest blind-box figures out there were the Vinylmation Mystery Chasers that were packed at one-per-case. But things have changes in the last few years, and now there’s something even rarer: Vinylmation variants. Packed at far less than one per case, the Marvel Vinylmation variants from Series 1 of Phasing Vision and Bearded Thor have long been the most valuable Vinylmation Marvel figures. They now have some competition, though–Vinylmation Green Goblin and Mary Jane variants have now appeared and are selling for $150-$300 each!

When Disney announced the lineup of figures in Vinylmation Marvel Series 2 last month, visions immediately began to dance in collectors’ heads of what spectacular, beloved character would be the “mystery chaser” that wouldn’t be revealed until the cases were released. The most popular theories were for a Vinylmation Carnage, Gwen Stacy or Doc Ock chaser. Well, the Vinylmation Spider-Man series was officially released yesterday, and now we know the chaser’s identity. Though the immediate response has been disappointment, the Marvel Vinylmation Kingpin Chaser has been revealed!

Something inside me snapped last week when I got my first Marvel Super Heroes Masher figure, Deadpool. Ever since, I’ve started having a craving for more stylized, kid-friendly Marvel Mashers action figures, and as such I’ve been watching the Marvel Super Hero Mashers section at my local stores like a predatory hawk.
