Although I wasn’t exactly giddy regarding the lineup of the 2020 Marvel Legends Avengers GamerVerse figures series, four of the six figures with Abomination Build-A-Figure parts were comics-based and thus must-buys for me, so I decided to go for broke and ended up buying GamerVerse Iron Man and Ms. Marvel to complete the Build-A-Figure. The Marvel Legends GamerVerse Abomination BAF is selling for 60 bucks by his lonesome on eBay—but is he worth building or buying outright at all?

This year’s sole wave of Avengers Legends is a real anomaly in the modern era of Hasbro Marvel Legends in that, well… I don’t particularly want half the figures in the wave (including the Build-A-Figure!). Maybe I’ll turn around completely once the Square-Enix Avengers video game hits, but for the moment, this GamerVerse Marvel Legends Abomination Series is leaving me cold. While it was a virtual certainty that we’d see a Marvel Legends Black Widow movie series in 2020, I don’t think many folks would have placed money on the Build-A-Figure of the series being Gennady Gavrilov, the 8th Crimson Dynamo who debuted in the 2003 “Crimson Dynamo” limited series! The rationale for the Marvel Legends Crimson Dynamo BAF being included in the Black Widow wave was obviously “Russian”, which is a little bit of a tenuous connection. If you had asked me a year ago what X-Men characters I never in my life thought would be made as super-articulated Hasbro Marvel Legends, Sugar Man would have definitely been on that list. But that was before Hasbro announced an entire series of Age of Apocalypse figures, defying fans’ expectations by not making the Build-A-Figure Holocaust or Apocalypse or Sabretooth, but instead… the Sugar Man! And so, the Sugar Man BAF has now cometh for those who bought the whole wave! Is this monstrous menace worth assembling…?

Of all the characters to come out of the X-Men Age of Apocalypse storyline, the strongest case can arguably be made for X-Man (Nate Grey) being the most impactful character to survive that universe and cross into the 616. So it feels fully appropriate that the alternate universe Cable make an appearance in this first wave of Marvel Legends Age of Apocalypse X-Men figures! Although he’s pre-sold out through Amazon and BBTS, EE still has Marvel Legends X-Man 6″ figure pre-orders available! Is he worth snagging?

But after years of requests and dozens of issues of her solo comic book series, a 6” Squirrel Girl action figure finally became a reality!
